I started shopping around for a GT1 AWD as I was hoping there would be some decent deals out there. I live in the Chicagoland area.

I haven't been to test drive any yet, but I was trying to get a decent starting point for negotiations when I do go in and if I really like the car.

I was going to try and go the finance route as I didn't want to deal with the lease buy out but maybe I will change my mind depending on if these dealers want to deal or not.

Here is what they came back with so far, I would think there would be plenty of room to negotiate. 7.5% off MSRP plus I would get the 3K incentive, unfortunately do not qualify for the 1500 competitive bonus.

What are your thoughts? What should I try to get down to? Thanks!

I don't see a problem. This is a typical deal and not a killer deal. If you've got the money and you want THIS car why bicker and argue over who out-haggles who? Some buyers can't sleep soundly at night because they are convinced that if they had just held out a bit longer they'd have talked the seller down another one or two thousand. It's all about the deal first and the car second.

I wanted the Stinger, I could afford it, the dealer had already knocked off c. $3K from MSRP, and then the lease rebate convinced me to lease. Later, when I did the buyout, the amount saved wasn't enough to make the hassle worth it. If there is a "next time", I will state my OTD price and not lease. I'm not hard to please (aka "easy" to some), so, "next time" I will likely drive away on the same day I talk price. Just like this time.

I know this sounds odd but is that deal sheet from Gary Lang Kia? I just bought mine from there and it looked exactly like that (it's the only one I got so I don't know any different).

I agree with Merlin. When I went to buy I knew what I wanted and how much I would pay. If you're not comfortable, don't do it. But, if it's what you want and you will be happy with it go for it.

Yep, Gary Lang. That's funny! I just hate the games dealers play so it's always nice to hear other buyers feedback. Thank you guys.

I found they were very good on price. But, with their lower ad price they don't have much room to come down.

Im from Lancaster Ohio and I ended up buying from there and sucking up a $600 shipping fee. I don't think you'll make a wrong decision dealing with them.

I would definitely consider doing the lease buyout. The GT2 currently has $9500 lease cash for 24 months. Add a decent discount on top of it, and you’re looking at ~$40k plus TTL and inception fees. When all is said and done (post buyout), you should be at around $45k.... for a GT2.
Now is the time to do the negotiations via email. None of that “you have to come in to the dealership for the best deal”. Send an inquiry to several dealers and see where that takes you.

I should clarify: I'm not suggesting leasing and not doing the buyout. When I said, "... the amount saved wasn't enough to make the hassle worth it", I mean it would have been better for me to just buy the car outright (we have the cash in savings). Since I did lease (thinking, at the time, that the rebate knocked a whole lot off the final cost), doing the buyout saved 33 months of lease rent: over $5K. (the cost of the "privilege" of leasing, heh) So, I'm glad I did the buyout. The cost of the lease rent pretty much equals the lease rebate by the end of the lease. I still don't understand leasing very well. And so, for me just buying outright is easier to talk price.

Thanks guys, I'll do some homework on the Lease Buyout, I would still want to finance after the buyout so I will have to see what an estimated rate would be as opposed to the 3% Kia would give me.

I did it! I posted in lease buyout thread but figured I would wrap up this thread too. I ended up doing lease buyout of the GT2 instead of financing the GT1. It is basically costing me about 1k more for the GT2 than it would have costed me to finance the GT1.

Fired up! Thank you everyone.
