2019 Stinger Finally on KBB

The 2019 Kia Stinger finally appeared on Kelley Blue Book this morning. The 2019 Genesis G70 has been on KBB since July of 2019 despite both cars coming out about the same time.

The values of both vehicles are pretty similar at least for the highest(Excellent) condition.

However, the G70 Design package RWD starts to widen the gap with the Stinger GT2 RWD as you go down in condition to the “good” rating.

I have attached the 50 mile “Excellent”, “Very Good”, and “Good” values as of this morning for both cars.

The values range from $41,328 for the RWD Stinger GT2 on the low end to $43,350 for the G70 Design package RWD on the high end.

These numbers are actually pretty good considering the rebates people are typically getting on a RWD GT2. Selling price is typically around $40,000 before taxes and other fees especially on leases.

However, if you roll money in, pay interest, or get extended warranties you will quickly find yourself underwater on your loan for a Stinger.

I will update this post every few months or so in order to track the resell values of these cars. So far the G70 hasn’t really depreciated tremendously since July. Hopefully, the Stinger will do the same.

It is very important to note that the Genesis is ONLY competitive in resale value for two specific trim levels. The Design and Dynamic packages increase the resale value for the G70 by almost $3,000.

If I compared the Advanced G70 with all of the additional packages to the Stinger, the Stinger would offer many thousands of dollars more of resale value.

When it comes to reselling a car you need to get trim levels that come with all of the options included. When you have trim levels that also have optional equipment within the trim level you will get almost no resale value for those additional options.
