2019 second map update

I didn't get the email and used the link to check my VIN instead. Apparently my 2019 GT Limited build date April 2019 and bought last month isn't eligible.

What version of map do you have - is it already current?

Negative. When I bought the car it was V13. I updated to V13.5. Kia Canada paid for the update due to the voice issues with V13. Then I got the email stating that future updates will be free

I finally got around to checking my system settings and took this photo.

I've gone through what I believe is the full the process and have the authenication code, however, when I try to update, it asks me to insert an SD card as opposed to asking for a code. Any suggestions?

Insert the SD card from your car, so the software can update it.

Yup. That’s the key. I’d foolishly thought that it was a direct download to the car, similar to XM radio.

So it is safe to just insert the existing SD card and overwrite whatever is on the card?

I would buy a new SD card. They are cheap enough. Just in case something goes wrong you’ll have the original as a back up

LOL I already inserted it and will cross my fingers.

Okay, thanks. Will the old SD card still work as a backup though? I thought they had codes tied to the sd cards and your VIN.

I instantly the old card just to see what would happen. No issues. Just back to the old software
