• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Just ordered the map update. Kia Canada is going to reimburse the cost since the local search voice function never worked from the start. Apparently this issue has been resolved. Has anyone tried?

The voice search worked fine up until they released V13.0, which is likely what you have on your car. They certainly took their time releasing the Canadian market 13.5 update.

Let us know if it's resolved once you get it installed - that's a deal breaker as far as many are concerned.

Just installed. The local voice search now works perfectly.

Just got my 2020 and it seems to have version 12.47.44... maps. Is that the correct version #? I recall for my Genesis, the posted version and the installed version numbers didn’t match.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Anyone else get the email that map updates are now free for 10yrs but limited to 2 annually?

Yes I just got the email

Once you received your e-mail confirmation and you are ready to order/download the update, have your VIN and Device ID ready.

You find the Device ID in your car, go into the system, press Set Up and then the System Info icon (the little cogwheel).
The Device ID# will then be displayed on the very bottom of the screen as 10 numerical characters.
I suggest you do this before your download.

The file itself is about 19GB and download is sloooww.

Yes that is correct. I downloaded an update when I had my 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT Sport. It took about 3 hours and crashed numerous times. I’m glad Kia is now offering free updates. Hyundai was already offering free updates.

Apparently, yes ....

You may just go here:

There are two ways to get the update:
1) Download it yourself online by following the instructions here.
2) You can have a dealer do it for you*. Click here to find your nearest dealer and schedule a service appointment.

It should not make a difference whether you have received an email or not...Enjoy!

It doesn't - the site checks your VIN to see if you are eligible, and all Canadian Stingers since the first arrivals should be.

This is simply a map update, correct?
I’m assuming it still doesn’t allow our phones to read and respond to texts unless they are actually plugged into the USB port.

Updates the MMI software too. Thing I noticed the most is that the carplay / android auto volume can be more nicely fine tuned for volume and etc.

I'm sure there are improvements behind the hood beside just maps.

it's the same update you would get if you purchased it outright, including the newest head unit software - they just provide a discount code that zeroes the price.

It receives texts and lets you reply without the phone being on a wired connection, using the Bluetooth link.

I didn't get the email and used the link to check my VIN instead. Apparently my 2019 GT Limited build date April 2019 and bought last month isn't eligible.

Mine is a 2019 GT Ltd AWD purchased in July 2019. Don’t know when it was built but according to the website I am eligible
