• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

2019 Map Update now available online

My update seems to have changed nothing. Didn't even seem to apply any changes.

My 2019 Stinger had a full set of changes. My before/after versions are:

Software version:
CK_19MY.AUS.SOP.008.11.230510.STD_M
CK_19MY.AUS.SOP.009.2.240221.STD_M

Map version:
AUS.16.42.46.012.201.3
AUS.17.41.48.013.611.3

Navigation App version:
STD5L.AUS.KIA.230508.c435a75
STD5L.AUS.KIA.240614.3f75729

The only thing I have noticed so far is that the Android Auto warning when starting the car is different.

No update for US market yet.. You guys get to be beta testers.

Unless they bring back the 2020-2021 version, I have lost interest in updating. Every update since then has been making the unit feel slightly slower and look slightly worse.
Had a chance to experience a Stinger with an original software version from 2020... wow! It was so responsive compared with my latest version. We have the same unit, of course. I just didn't realize how slow and laggy mine has become. Incremental changes for the worse over 4 years..

Have you tried a factory reset? As you know the underlying OS is android based. Over time the file system can be come quite messy. As there is no option to 'wipe cache', factory reset is the next best thing.

I think I did a factory reset about 1,5 years ago when the Nav lost its voice. I haven't since but I honestly don't expect it to change anything. I think it's just slow.

For example, manually zooming in and out on the map is simply painful. It has a 1-2s delay from the moment you turn the knob to the moment the zoom happens. Especially if you turn the knob multiple positions at a time. Is this only on mine?

So, one of the annoying quirks of the Stinger's infotainment system has always been that Android Auto (Spotify etc.) and USB audio sometimes just stop making any sound when starting the car. The fix has always been to turn off the Lexicon ClariFi setting, and the audio returns. Twice now, after the latest update, this trick no longer works and I have to sit in silence or listen to the radio. Annoying!

For US owners, supposedly the next update is to be dropped any day now. If you haven't already, grab last october's to keep on hand.

I'm still on a '22 update. Usually wait a month or 2 after release before flashing, or longer if the new features aren't overly welcomed.

March 2025 update is on the Kia site now. Looks like no software change, but a newer map version.

If you are in Australia New Zealand and you have a vehicle 21 on wards you are probably better off leaving the factory software.

The SatNav updates I believe are all provided by the one company for after market GPS, Dash Cams, vehicle GPS

The latest dash cam runs exactly the same GPS software as 2023 Stinger, same errors, same old sites still there,, same everything

My advice. Leave the software alone. It's not going to make your car run faster, invariably (from others) it stuffs up or wont load, if you are not at a dealer, you can't fix it if it stuffs up.

It may remove stuff you like and add stuff you don;t like. If you like your car. Leave it.

And just on that, I have a new Mazda CX3. It was put into Mazda first service, Univited they updated the software, stuffed it up, wiped out half the red light cameras, it wouldn't update again online because it had the latest version.
Waited a month and the six monthly update came out and corrected the errors with the next version.

Never going back to that dealer I bought it from.

And as usual no update for standard g5 nav. Looks like that's all she wrote updates wise.

yes, it is. I can see the standard gen 5 in the list, the first one there, 7 & 8 touchscreen
