• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

2019 Map Update now available online

They are usually different every 6 months.

But this also happened for the EU versions last year. June 23 was the same as Dec 22. I was getting the same message as you.
I went to kia's support chat and they confirmed the june 23 version was unchanged for my car (and it would be useless to reinstall it) but it would change a couple of features on the face-lifted models.

Probably the same story in the AUS version now.

My mega beast is a MY20 with "Standard-class Gen 5 Navigation ( 7 & 8 in. Touchscreen)".

I downloaded the update and transferred to the SD card OK, but my vehicle didn't offer to apply the update automatically - so I did it manually though the setup menu, and it said that the software version hadn't changed but it would happily reinstall if I really wanted it to, which I made it do.

The software version hasn't changed since May 2023, and I am not sure either about a Map update - and can see from the software list that our vehicle map version is now out of step with the newer models.

In my mind, if you updated in May 2023, then the December update is most likely to be no different to that.

Yes I believe the SW update only relates to the widescreen versions (ie MY21 onwards). The dates at the end of the SW version number are still 10 May 23 for the earlier versions. I have a MY21 with the widescreen and the update went through fine. Difficult to see any real changes other than the SW and map version numbers changing. I did get a note after the download stating that there were new sounds of nature sounds, for whatever that is worth.

I have a MY 23 Stinger bought new. The maps are up to 10 years out of date from what I can work out. I expect the factory will have installed the latest software unless they just used a base software and expect everyone to update it after they take delivery.
Latest update does not work. The only version they offer. Cannot install it. Won't recognise it. Contact dealership.

Apologies ahead of time for this stupid question, but the dealer didn't point this out when I bought it:
Where is the satnav SD card located? 2023 model. Thnx.

There is no SD card from the implementation of the widescreen onwards. It is all done through the usb port.

Haha. That explains it. I'm used to the SD card in my other car for maps and updates.
How then does the Nav map update in the 23 Stinger? (again, apologies for dumb questions)

There is a navigation updater application you download to your computer. In it you select your nav type and model, then have it format and load the files to a thumb drive, which you plug into the car's USB port. It'll either detect it and ask you if you want to update, or you can go into the settings menu and do it manually.

I seem to remember it restarting a couple times when I did it last January, but now I'm getting a failure message immediately after it starts. Anyone encounter this?

Not sure if you've solved your issue but l had the exact same thing when loading the Dec 23 update.
I found l needed to use a 32 gig USB Drive and the Car needs to be running when the update is performed.
Use of correct download can be confirmed by checking the model in the settings.

I have followed the update to the letter

Re installed the downloader on two different laptops. Downloaded the 9gB software to both machines and also large USBs that takes 30 minutes.

Downloaded by software version and again by Model.

There is only one software offered for AUS build for 22-23 Stinger.

It runs a short while then says incompatible. Contact Service Centre

When it gets to 10,000 kms which will be mid next year they can fix it.

Accessory mode should be fine? I've never needed to run the engine every time I updated the system.

Thankyou

I have the latest car.

All I want is for a map update and not moving Icons around worse than what they are.

No update for me.

I have always updated mine in ACC.

Even measured the current draw in ACC mode, about ~7 amps

I got that "Vehicle System Update Unsuccessful" immediately upon starting the update, with the car in ACC, ON, and while running. When I say immediately, I mean I'd select the update and it would take a few seconds to start, then it would flash the warning about keeping the car running while updating for <1 second before going to the failure message.

Anyone heard when the next software/maps update is due out?
Thought it should have been late May or early June,

From what I read in the technology area, the May update for North America has been delayed until June at the earliest because of some issues found during final QA. We might have been caught up in whatever caused that delay.

I just checked my firmware for updates before launching my CPI and seems 27 is still the newest version out right now

I recently bought a 2019 but someone has updated the software to February of 24 but the nav no longer works and gives a check the SD card error. The SD card looks to be the original Kia one so I'm not sure if they just flash the software through USB or copied over the old SD card, does anyone know what the newest date a 2019 infotainment system can handle. For example I have lexicon stereo options but I still have the old Harmon kardon system. I also get a weird error when I parked at it could not be transmitted because there is no phone connected but mine is?

@bige1844 You should try to update again using the card in the unit. Follow the steps on the website and you should be fine.
Thank you! I will give it a shot to reinstall. Should I just try to reinstall it as it is now or redownload everything from the Kia site on the SD card?
