Same old cant decide post.

I have a new Micro Blue 22 GT-Line on the way to the dealer but tested a 2019 GT2 Certified White with only 12K miles. The GT2 they are selling for 47K....seems excessive. The GT-Line was 42K.

I like the 30-32 MPG with the GT-Line as I drive around 50 miles RT to work. Also, new car, same 15 speaker sound and sunroof. I dont race or go to the track or tune or anything like that. BUT, I used to have an EVO and just didn't like the 4 cylinder turbo. Like large engines a lot more.

So, not sure what to do. And, I get nervous those 12K miles were abusive miles...yes, warranty, but hate taking the car in for repairs anytime the first 3-4 years so always buy a new car.

My blue car is delayed for 2 weeks and it's so hard not just buying the white one now...as I dont want to wait....what the hell do i do?

Is the 2.5 you're looking at rwd or awd?

The 2.5T is also port & direct injected. 3.3 Is only direct injected. That to me was a big selling point from a maintenance perspective. The 2.5T is no slouch, especially in sport mode.

As an a more "mature" driver, the bigger picture matters more than short term satisfaction. My immediate area is all metro, really few places to open it up fast. That immediate power would just go to waste most of the time.

I'd test drive the 2.5 extensively (no round the block test drive), then decide.

The GT2 is RWD, the 2.5 is AWD.

I'd like the AWD for constant wet rainy Seattle weather. And, new car, etc. So, will probably wait...but tough.

I'm "mature" also...but have a younger wife and she loves speed now.

Doesn't the rwd come with LSD, awd doesn't. Wife is 1/3 your age?

LOL...I wish.

Wife is 44, I'm older. Not 122 though thank heavens.

She hated my Evo but then after that, she bought a Chrysler 300 with a Hemi and fell in love with speed. She now wants a Grand Cherokee SRT or Trackhawk. Uh, slow down honey.

I think the primary driver should be the one to decide. Either way, from various reviews, the 2.5T is a sub 6s 0-60 car in either trim. Closer to 5 in rwd. I think that's plenty fast for most urban accelerations.

Highway passing is more than sufficient. Else *I* would not have bought one as that was a key criteria. I should be able to comfortably pass a car on a 2 lane hwy without needing a quarter of a mile to do so.

The suv's yo mention above are quite heavy. An rwd 3.3 is a bit over #3800 curb weight, about 200 lb lighter than the 300. More dead weight = poor mpg.

All highway miles, I'd say the 2.5 is good for comfortably around 400 miles hwy on a full tank. Probably even more if you let it get very low. Not sure about the 3.3. You can check out fuelly.com to see what folks have reported. How you drive matters even more if mpg is a concern.

The newer cars have the larger infotainment display too (but no wireless AA).

I just need to be patient ..... but driving around in Wrangler with a soft top that leaks cold air into the cabin, heavy road noise, bumpy ride....I am crying for my Stinger to get here quicker.

The stinger will even faster because it's a much quieter interior. For the first month or so I had difficulty going the speed limit. The car felt like it was at the speed limit, but speedo indicated 10-20 over.

A lot of folks love the additional power of the 3.3. They also don't like having to replace the OEM pads and rotors on them, though due to pad buildup and/or warping being a common issue.

For me, the 2.5t was the sweet spot between the old 2.0 and the 3.3. It's "fast enough", and the rest of the car is essentially the same (depending on options that you may choose or need).

About the only folks who look down on the 2.5 because it "only" has 300 hp compared to 365 hp of the V6 are the same insecure types at the gym that can bench 365lbs and scoff at the guys who can "only" bench 300 lbs.

3.3tt all the way imo. Not one downside to having more power. The 3.3 can get descent mileage if you drive it normally, which I "try" to do but it's hard. I'm always in comfort mode until I need to make a move then its in sport mode. I've raced on occasion but it's not something I due regularly. But gas mileage isn't something I care too much about. If I did I wouldn't own this car nor a Ford Lightning. I'm just disappointed that the 2022 v6 didn't come with at least 400hp. Then maybe I could deal with the terrible exhaust tips on the 2022 model. I saw a 2022 gt-line not too long ago. I just think those massive exhaust tips on a car with less power is completely stupid. That's just me though.

Well, canceled the micro blue and got the ceramic silver which showed up at a dealership 300 miles away. So fun drive this Saturday.... part of the break in period at least. 22 GT Line.

You wont regret it at all, the Gt line on the 22's is actually pretty nice for being what's considered a "Base" model, and with a 100k mile warranty, I think you will be more than happy.

In that case get the 3.3. Happy wife, happy…. well you know the rest. Cheers and welcome aboard.

OP, good call. the RWD would have been a beast at least half the time in the Seattle area.

I ended up with the GT-Line and then on our way home from picking it up, the wife is jealous of my new car so she "forced" me to go with her to a Ford dealer who had a Grand Cherokee TRACKHAWK. OMG. Used for around 85K. Somehow, some way, we ended up with the damn thing.

So, I decided to save us money by buying the GT Line instead of spending 5K more for a slightly used GT2...and then she demolishes our bank account and gets the Trackhawk. So, now of course, I'm jealous of her car and want something faster.....and then realized, well, she said I could drive her car a few days each month to get that Need for Speed....so I guess I'm good. The Stinger is so damn smooth and comfortable to drive...I love the thing....and seems like it's fast enough after it's moving. Not so much 0-60 but 20-60, 40-80, etc. I love the car, just need to get out of that "more speed" mindset.

Man you took a W and a L at the same time! Haha. I’m not the sexist type but no way in hell I’d let my women have the trackhawk over me lol.

I'm way late responding to this, but for anyone else thinking this over- I was in the same boat. The difference for me ultimately came down to the area I live in. It's over saturated in population and vehicles. You'd be hard pressed to get a speeding ticket. So for me, the extra mpg and price of the GT line was the preferred route to go, especially with the hour commute.
