2016-2019 Stinger CLASS ACTION for ABS (anti-lock braking system) fault

If you own a 2016-2019 Stinger, you may have received a recall notice about your ABS.

The problem with the ABS affects vehicles around the world and could cause a vehicle to catch fire. Owners have been warned not to park their vehicles in an enclosed area such as a garage amid fears they could catch fire even when switched off. So please take a look at the government recall website to check if your car is affected.

There is also a class action in the making for this fault with the ABS, which will seek to recover the loss in the car value for owners.

If there is a recall on your vehicle’s ABS, you will be included in this class action…so stay tuned.

We need to find one person who is prepared to be the lead plaintiff for the class action against Kia. You don’t need to have a problem with your ABS; just be a vehicle owner with a car under recall.

have not heard of an abs recall or any trouble with the stinger abs, especially not the '2016' model year.

The electric issue most Stingers had was a wiring issue with the ABS fuse being overrated(?), and in specific situations it could overload/heat the wiring and cause a fire to break out under the hood (where the fuse box is located). Hopefully I'm remembering this right. It had to be a specific set of circumstances to occur to cause the overload situation, it wasn't just the mere application of ABS. I did the recall for the fuse issue myself with a later released drop in kit (did not need the complicated wire rerouting originally done for many at the dealers). Vehicles through 2021 would be included, as I received a formal recall notice. I think the 2022+ models were fixed either at the dealers prior to sale or from the factory at some point.
