I don't know if it's me or does the red Nappa leather look to be a brighter color red than on the videos and pictures I've seen of none us-spec interior. I don't know if it's just image or video quality and lighting but the images and videos I see where the leather looks darker appeals to me more than the brighter looking color

This is the reality color.

Obviously, I didn't shoot this in the best lighting, but it matches my memory of the color. Part of the reason I haven't been a fan of the red leather is that when I saw it in person it looked dull compared to the red paint color--they almost clashed when seen in person. STG GT's photo looks like it's a lighter, brighter red. Could they have changed it between Korean and Australian production? Or perhaps it'a a difference between the regular leather and the nappa?

difference between the regular leather and the nappa

You pretty much answered your own questions. Nappa leather is tanned to be soft, softer than the "regular" leather (and probably more expensive).
Some leathers are dyed, as Nappa is, others are essentially "painted", which is cheaper. Leather will take-up dye (slightly) differently from hide to hide, and it would or should not be surprise you, if the red Nappa in one car looks slightly different from another car. On the other hand, if you topcoat the leather, it will come out the same color all the time.
Then you have different surface qualities: red shiny paint vs. matte leather. If you were lucky enough to have the same shade of red on the leather and metal, it would still look different.
For all these reasons, I would not recommend "red on red", and your observations confirms it.
Then again, if you were to tint the glass, you would hardly notice the interior or any mismatch. So get what you like. :)

I never seen the color combo even in a photo bit I think the red nappa would look great with deep chroma blue.

That makes sense. I didn't know that. So leathers like Nappa can have a certain uniqueness to them. I imagine semi-aniline would be the same.

Yesterday I went to the local KIA dealer to order a 2018 GT2 AWD black/black (optioned out), but was told that the GT2 AWD with a black exterior is available with the red interior only. Not everybody is a fan of red interiors, there were no other interior color choices available, so I ordered a GT1 AWD black/black (optioned out). Bottom line; KIA still got the sale, but left $4,000 on the table and I didn't get the car I wanted. By ordering the GT1, I'll be without a few things; the better/ventilated front seats, HUD; plus a couple of other minor things, but on the bright side it will still be a V6 twin turbo, AWD, heavily influenced by Albert Biermann the former "M" performance person at BMW and it's a hatch back to boot (IMO the hatch back design is the most practical car design). My car experience, many 85-92 Saabs, '95 M3, 2001 M5 (finest normal car made), 2015 SHO, now waiting for my GT1 2018 Stinger. I vote for something other than red interior on a black exterior GT2 AWD.

As I said if I decide to purchase a stinger it will be next model year and I hope they resolve some of the issues, one being color combinations. The GT2 is the only model I want with deep chroma blue or micro blue with first choice red and second black interior. Although I like the light grey I don' think I want to own it (maybe if I was leasing). The ceramic is working on me but I love blue. This also goes for theBuick GS also. I did like the color of the Camry I drove last weekend.

Welcome aboard, @Bobby O! Thank you for signing up and congratulations on your new Stinger GT! I do love ventilated seats and HUD and don't mind the red interior so I'd have taken what they had - but living in Michigan probably negates the need for ventilated seats and anyone can do without heads up display. I'm sure you'll be perfectly fine with the GT1's leather and above all, you're going to love the way the car drives and performs. Oh, and looks! It's a real head turner. I'm glad you found us! How long is your wait to drive it home?

The ventilated seats would be a nice extra, but you're correct in saying not really necessary here in Michigan. Although I will point out that last year we were most fortunate in the fact that Summer fell on a weekend.
I have heard nothing from the dealer on an anticipated delivery date. I told the dealer I would like to have 4 winter tires mounted ready to swap when the Stinger arrives. Any suggestions on the wheel/winter tire package for the GT1 AWD?

Hey there, just like to ask when you ordered your Deep Chroma Blue with Red Nappa Leather, and how long did you wait until delivery ? Im waiting for the same colour with Black Nappa Leather.

I waited 4 months for mine but its possible with black leather it could be quicker for you as I understand the more popular your selection is the quicker Kia can meet the minimum production quota required to have it built. Thats why white and red paint buyers with black leather report the quickest delivery times. That said since they have now launched the car in Europe and North America I believe that is also slowing down supply to Oz.

Just keep asking your dealer to check his online poirtal which is how they are updated on delivery timing.
