How to install OEM Wireless Charger on your Stinger

Can't base it only on that assumption as battery drain and usage varies on every phone. I've had the wireless charger installed for some time now and I can confidently say that it charges my phone faster than it did with the USB.

Few questions to help me decide if Im going to do this or not:

A: Will a Note 8 sit "flush" inside?
B: Any overheating issues while running multiple things?
C: Whats the charge AMPS if anybody knows?

A: YES
B: NO
C: Don't know, but it is the equivalent of a fast charging charger, as my phone, S9, charges from 50% to 80% in a 12 minute drive .

Yes, you still need the USB cable to use AA. All this does will let you charge the phone. The car doesn't support Wireless AA/CarPlay.

@robz32 my question is, how large is the charging pad? Does it support big phones like the S8+/S9+/Note 8?

Once I knew this, needing to connect for ACP, Qi importance went out the window. Now a 360* kit, that’s something! Lordy the expense on the install on that one!

Did you price one out with labor? I’ve only looked at the cost of the hardware.

No, just wishing. It’s going to be pricey.

Hello 1st post. I am thinking about getting a Stinger GT this weekend. I really would like to add the wireless charging but I am not very mechanical. Is this something I could do on my own or would the dealership do this if I provide the part?

Thanks for the advice.

The factory kit is available on eBay. I think it’s 300-400 bucks. It’s a tear apart the console install. There’s a video by one of the members here, on YouTube. I’ll link it. If you’re not handy you can find an installer to do it for you. Yelp will help you find a local one.

I asked my dealer if they would install both the wireless charging module and the covered cup holders. They quoted $225 plus tax, assuming everything is in fact plug and play. Now all I have to do is decide if it is worth the cost of about $800 total (parts, labor + tax) to obtain wireless charging and covered cup holders.

Good to know thank you.

A thought I had why I wasn’t so disappointed in not having the Qi version. To use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto you have to plug in. That also charges the phone. So, I’d be probably plugging it in always to use ACP. A,so, I can’t confirm this just by video. The slide in space seems thin. I have an Otterbox Defender on my iPhone X. I’m thinking the fit will be tight, have a bigger phone like a Note and well doesn’t look good, add a rugged case and lord knows.

Maybe our Canadian members can comment on fit ent if bigger phones and rugged cases?

As for the covered cup holders, I always have my water jug in mine so the open door would be annoying.

That’s my opinion do as you desire but I wanted to share. Now as for the 360 view, that I do miss and wish for. Doubt a retro fit is possible given the complexity/co$$$t and having to change the radar panel and lord knows what else.

These instructions were EXTREMELY useful. It would have taken many hours to figure this out on my own, but I was able to complete the job in just two, which included transplanting the sliding cover from the old unit to the new. I found one shortcut, which involved leaving the shifter in place and only removing the three 10mm bolts. In doing so, the shifter remained attached to the console when sliding the console back from the dash. Thanks again for laying this out. Love the wireless charger and I also installed the new cupholder. Finally, the K8 store has made my Stinger life so easy. Thanks K8!

Too bad you're not in Maryland. I would be more than happy to assist with the install. It's quite easy to do. Good luck with whatever you decide.

You can do the Qi charger portion without installing the covered cup holders, right? I don't like how they open towards the driver vs the passenger side. Does the finish on the charger match the USDM cupholder / console?

Yes, you can install the charger without changing to the KDM center console. Yes, the finish will match the USDM center console finish

Hey Neil where are you in MD? I'm in NoVa and just bought the kit today. If you're close by, do you think you can help me with the install?

Sorry my friend, been on the road a bit and not on the forum. I’m sure you have your kit installed by now. If not, let me know. I’m out to New Orleans Tues thru Saturday, but available next week.
