Looking VERY likely that the Stinger will be firmly locked at MSRP

I feel we all may not have a choice some day. All of us in our self driving SUV's.

I almost don't even want a choice anymore. Almost. :p I live in South Florida. Pickup Truck central. Soccer Moms have Escalades. It really does make driving a car more difficult...

It is ALL over the place from model to model. So the "options" will all have different values, depending on which models you are talking about. But for a frame of reference for my anger, lets compare pricing for models equipped exactly the same (US vs Canada):
  • Cadenza Limited: $7300 more in the US
  • K900 V8 Luxury: $5400 more in the US
  • Optima SXL: $4100 more in the US
Now we get to the Stinger......
  • Stinger GT2 AWD is $11500 more in the US
If they could have added say 8k on top of the Canadian price, I could have lived with the pricing in the US. But to try to be greedy and squeeze that much more out of the US market! Add in possible removal of content and it is even more egregious.

Yes, they feel they can charge the US unfairly compared to the ROW to pad their bottom line. Hoping the average buyer has no idea how much it costs other places.

Let me play Devil's MF'n Advocate for a second. :p What if it's actually sort of the other way around and the price we get is the normal price and everybody else gets a reduced price because outside of the U.S. people can't as easily afford automobiles. I hear gas prices in Europe are like four times the amount as in America so that could be a factor in purchase decisions and pricing. I'm just grasping at straws here but I'm trying to make sense of it all because it would really be nice if it MADE sense.

I actually think they didn't realize how important it was. It took surveys with that as top rated "issue" for them to finally make a move.

I suppose they thought people would be happy paying a little less for less service...

Some of that pricing disparity could also be due to import/export tariffs differences between the US and Canada. I'm not knowledgeable on such things, but I do know we have trade agreements, subject to the political winds.

Will likely get even worse for US buyers if the WH pulls us out of KORUS.

Although, they're apparently no longer considering a full withdrawal.

Where is the website that shows the actual top of the line stinger in Canada’s price

Sometimes I wish I could just make myself "like" driving them and be done with it. ;)

If it wasn't Canada maybe that could be a viable reason. But it seems that America is willing to waste.....er spend more money on their deprecating assets.

Cars are generally more expensive in Europe than they are in the US, when you compare like for like. They have VAT and the like. So operating costs don't seem to be a factor.

I too wish there was a logical reason and then I could move on from there.....

I suppose they thought people would be happy paying a little less for less service...

I think even going in there to just make the purchase was "off putting" to customers. Sitting next to a 20K Elantra while you buy your 58K Genesis.

The car dealers usually make up for the "shipping costs", etc. in the destination charge. The destination charge is higher in Canada. But I included destination in my price comparison to be fair.

Where is the website that shows the actual top of the line stinger in Canada’s price

http://www.kia.ca/stinger2018

I made the assumption the price is 49,995 CAD in my calculations. If it is actually 49,999.99 CAD, then take 4 bucks off the $11,500.
