US pricing?

Why do we think the U.S. won't get LED taillights? Has that been said by Kia?

The more I research, the more pissed off I'm getting about the pricing structure of the U.S. versions of the GT spec. Kia's gonna ask for $52k+ for their GT2 trim with AWD, and can't include LED taillights like in other markets!?! No 360 degree view camera? WTF!?!

LED Taillights and Breaklights are standard in all but the base trims. Pretty sure the 360 camera is standard in the GT2 only.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Yeah. I love my 360 view camera for one main reason. It works great for getting close enough to a drive-in window while keeping your rims from scraping the curb as you pull up. And rims aren't cheap.

Note that the US-spec photos from Kia do not show passenger seat movement controls mounted on the side wall as seen in the Korean-spec car. I think it is a very useful feature, but too bad Kia removed it for the US.

I never even noticed that. I've only had cars with the seat controls on the side of the seat. Given that the car has dual position memory, I usually only use them when I first buy the car. In that case I'd much rather they be down by the seat so the cabin looks cleaner and there are fewer wires running all around the car into the door. And thanks jwhollan for clearing up the led taillights issue.

Thanks. I meant to say rear turn signals, not brake lights. The picture differs from the spec sheet, but maybe they used a different version for the photos.

Still annoyed at the price. I'm starting to explore exporting the car from Canada, lol. Currency exchange rates are favorable, and I can get heated rear seats for my kids boosters!

Better check the warranty first. I believe Nissan USA honors the Canadian warranty. Honda does not. It would suck to buy a 50k car with no warranty..

Might be worth the risk with the $10k I'd save :)
Maybe but it's not quite 10k. You'll have to pay the tariff to bring it across the border. (5% I think) You'll probably also have to have cash, as I doubt a bank in America will give you a loan for a car that won't have a warranty. And I know a bank in Canada won't give you a loan unless you live there. You'll also need to get Kia to give you something that proves the Canadian car meats all the US EPA rules.

Let me know if you are serious about it and if you can get it worked out. I was looking at the same thing..

I was initially trying to be funny, but I'm going to look into it more. If I end up going that route, I'll let you know.

Here's some guidance on importing policies: http://www.bordercenter.org/chem/vehicles.htm

Personally I was hoping/expecting the base would start at $27k - maybe wishful thinking, and GT up to $47 for the top, that's still a $20k price difference, being that Kia stated they want to be "affordable" which is of course relative. Pricing def should not be on par with BMW until they have proven themselves in this new sports sedan venture. After 1st year out if it drives anywhere close to BMW then increase pricing accordingly. As everyone I am soooo looking forward to test driving this and hopefully owning (unless I change my mind lol)! I used to own a BMW that ended up being a lemon with lots of issues but I know several people that have had them a long time. I can say when it was working it was a great driving experience. Hope to feel close to that again without the high maintenance costs!

I'm interested in the 2.0T and was hoping it would be affordable. I don't that I ever thought it was going to start at $27k (although I would definitely buy it at that price). I got excited when some of the articles last week were saying $29k, which I thought could be reasonable depending on the options. Now, we're hearing $32k for the base and the features don't seem impressive, so I might be out. $32k still has my interest, but the features would have to justify it for me.

No 360 degree camera on any trim level in the US according to the spec sheet. All trim levels listed as having a rear back up camera only.

It was probably the June Road Show article that had us all expecting the 360º cam: "On the safety front, a 360-degree backup camera, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, full-speed adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking will be on the options list." (https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/auto/2018-kia-stinger/preview/) Fake news, haha?

Today's article is less specific about features, and the last sentence can either give us hope, or a chill in our bones: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/2018-kia-stinger-is-a-performance-bargain-at-31900/

I got the 360 degree camera from the Aussie reviews.
