I was in Clemson and stopped at the Anderson Kia dealer to see colors and stock and was shocked to see the add on sticker, $warranty care $1195, paint/interior protection $895, wheel locks $75 nitrogen $499, more add on the list but the kicker was the line below "market modification $4995". WOW! I am surrounded by dealerships with plenty of inventory and this is the only one not listing MSRP. It is like landmines, you never know where they may turn up. I have seen doc fees as high as $699, pinstripes $199, nitrogen $499, carpet mats (yuk) $299, etc....

Same here in AZ, I said no and they took it away?????
The dealer around the corner from my house in Indianapolis is charging 52k for a GT1 citing "dealer installed rust and other protection"! Also the car is filthy and full of dead insects under the front windshield. The exact reason why I almost never buy cars here in Indy lol.

I think this is what is to blame. I was passing by and decided to stop and get a test drive in (never test drive one before) and this lady drives by doing a test drive on an Optima and stops behind me and says "what is that I want that" the salesman immediately began going to work on her lol. I don't think she had any idea what car she wanted, which leads me to believe she could not have done much /any research on it, which is a shame.
Do they or are they sitting on old inventory? the stickers were falling off the windows and I would love to know how long they have been sitting.
Please note the third paragraph where it says the prices advertised include ALL possible incentives and you may not qualify for any and the price could be a test market price etc, etc... Then I read the google reviews how they lie from the moment you arrive to the finance office where they hide things like stop gap insurance and other fees . I wish the State could shut a dealer like this down. All the Stingers are advertised with $8534 off sticker

Sadly, this is all too common. As I've started to reach out to various dealers based on what they have listed on cars.com, autotrader.com etc. it has been an eye opening experience. Ask for a quote and you get back thousands above what is posted and add-ons that make no sense. The price is just to bait you. It has been clear that this car purchase will be a test of patience and will power. Love the car and I haven't given up but an honest dealership appears to be hard to come by.
Well, after driving two Genesis coupes, I was "stung" when I saw the car and even more so when I took the test drive. Having driven a "modern" Hyundai, I had no problem giving the Kia a shot. Then I started dealing with the dealerships and how Kia rolled out the car, and I am now pulling away from making the purchase. The main reason I keep reading the forums is for some sign of hope in the purchase/availability process but I read more stories like those mentioned above. I have almost decided to keep my current car and wait for something else. If Kia had made available the color/trim Stinger I wanted in my area and the dealers would have been civilized, I'd already be driving one. I have purchased at least 8 new cars and the Kia experience was the worst sadly.

Dutch Miller Kia in Charlotte is the proud owner of this crazy fee. For anyone in the Charlotte area, it looks like Union County Kia is your best bet from what I have seen.

To be clear and fair, the admin fee at Dutch Miller in Charlotte is $899. The fees that ghettozoo mentions in the original post are at Anderson Kia in Anderson, SC roughly 130 miles away. I posted only to show that $699 is bad, $899 is really bad!

Charging $499 for nitrogen is fraud, pure and simple. I would report those dealers to Kia corporate. This is an industry wide scam being used by more than just Kia. My son-in-law just shopped for a Honda Odyssey van in NJ. One dealer has $140 for nitrogen-filled tires on the sticker. My son-in-law is a PhD chemist so of course he called the salesman's bluff (and of course it is not the salesman, it's the dealer or sales manager who creates these scams.) He offered to take a sample of the air from the tires and have it analyzed at an independent lab of his choice and half could go to the dealer's lab of choice. He told the dealer that if the "air" in the tires was 100% nitrogen, he would pay the $140 and buy the van there. As chemists, we know that atmospheric air is already 78% nitrogen so putting alleged pure nitrogen in tires is pure B.S. and has no advantages, even pressure differences with temperature changes (I already did the math on that, too.) He bought a van from an honest dealer.
These scams are indicative of the overall attitude and sales philosophy of the dealer in question. I would avoid that dealer like the plague and report it to the corporate headquarters. Kia (or Honda) does not want dishonest dealers representing them and losing sales from angry customers.

Kia of Anderson has the crazy markups with dealerships around here having 8 to 24 Stingers on their lots. Kia of Gastoina has the mark down of $8534 on every Stinger but disclaim that not everyone will qualify for all discounts must finance through KMF etc... So if you are a college student while active military, own a Kia, and choose the model with the full$7200 added cash, you might qualify for all discounts but will still need to pay dealer add ons and fees, etc..etc..etc..

2) Know the Kelley Blue Book value range of your trade-in
3) Forget trying to bargain with monthly payments -- know exactly what the true cost of the car is first. Dealers can bury tons of profit in payment offers.
4) The rebate is available from Kia Finance, NOT from the dealer who has nothing whatsoever to do with it. However your net cost should show that rebate before you price it out for lease of finance.
5) The rebate only applies to a lease OR the finance option that includes the balloon payment, NOT the normal finance to payout. Understand the obligations and differences before you agree or sign anything.
6) Refuse to pay for any dealer-added options that you do not want. Get another car or make them remove them. They are pure profit.

And here is an example of something to avoid at all costs. Anytime you see the term ADM added to the Moroney sticker (or the fake sticker that dealers substitute for it) you want to walk away. ADM means something like Additional Dealer Margin which translates into PPFN (Pure Profit For Nothing).

You can also tell that this is a dealer-created fake Moroney sticker because they mis-spelled "Subset Yellow."
Someone called me on the fact that dealers cannot alter the Moroney sticker. That is probably true, but they sure as hell can print their own as this picture clearly shows.
