Stinger badge in back

I ordered the bigger Stinger emblem to put on the back of my car and I was watching some videos on how to install it. The guy in the video filled the two holes with silicone before he put the badge on, and I was wondering if that has to be done, or is it okay to skip and just put the logo over?

I would do if I were you. If any water gets into those holes it's going straight into the hatch.

From there who knows where the water will end up? Shorting out a light? Finding a bolt to rust out? Seeping into the interior?

I filled mine with silicone, covered it with tiny pieces of vinyl, then put the badge over it.

It's not worth the risk.

I personally skipped filling the holes and have zero issues... no water has gotten in and it’s been raining yesterday and today

did not fill holes, didn't fill holes on my genesis when I put that badge on too.

have driven through some crazy weather past two weeks and no issues

you don't need to fill in the holes. if you have clear silicone, it wouldn't hurt. that is all.

if you have the silicone you might as well use it. but if the badge is installed properly there wont be any water getting in. if water got under that two sided tape everyone's badges would be falling off.

The holes are pretty big and over time the adhesive might shrink/harden. The silicon takes minutes to apply and a couple of hours to set, giving you peace of mind and security for as long as that script is on!

No one will know until it's too late.

Really not worth the risk. $5 and 5 minutes could eliminate a huge future headache.

Agree with everyone, having done mine recently, it takes no time to fill the holes and prevent any future headaches.

Fill holes out of mind . Don't fill holes only time will tell ,back of mind .

I filled the holes and slapped the Stinger badge on right away. No wait, no need to tidy up the silicone and seems fine.
