New Stinger Website

http://www.explorekiastinger.com/landing_pages/lp/2017/01/stinger_handr/public/index.html

A lot of the same information that has been published previously but there are a few interesting tidbits. Like the 5.1-second 0-62 mph acceleration time being a pre-homologation development target.
My goodness I just had to Google homologation. So that's not a recorded time I guess. It's an agreed upon time that they need to meet? If I've learned anything from reading around here the Stinger can easily do better than 5.1 seconds to 62 so I imagine all they need to do is tune it to their liking.

now that is a little website. one page. :D yes, i saw the fine print. hmmm.....

Yes I agree that it may be better, as that "pre-homologation" description (disclaimer?) eludes to an internal design/engineering target prior to the production versions being tested/measured.

considering they can surely do better than that 5.1 to "62" i wonder if they'll actually do a little better so they can say they beat their projected target.

Under promise and over deliver. I like where this thread is going........

Thanks Marco-Oz from a fellow Aussie. I too have placed deposit with sale contract papers.
PS. This image rocks from that website ;)

I love those wheels. What more did we learn from the Aussie page?

I think I'm going to make this my new desktop! Love it!

Not much. I keep looking through interior shots hoping that somehow the infotainment screen wouldn't still look like a 1980's Nintendo. Really hoping they update that in the next 8 months or so. At least we'll have Android Auto & Apple CarPlay.

i'm afraid we're stuck with that stupid thing. i don't know what bunch of people at a board meeting agreed that this was a good idea. perhaps the same people that came up with the idea of the center stack in the first generation cadillac cts to look like a computer tower. hehe. that was stupid. but anyway. i don't think i've ever seen somebody say they like that ipad looking thing. how it keeps finding its way into otherwise nice interiors is really beyond my comprehension.

I agree the "tablet glued to your dashboard" look is terrible, but I was more referring to it generally looking like low end hardware with a dated looking UI. Everything else about the car looks great, but I'm actually a little worried that the infotainment is going to be such a turd that it might turn me off the the whole car when I finally see it in person.

I havent seen enough of the ui myself. Are there any good pictures that illustrate what youre saying?

I disagree. I think the "tablet screen" works in a cars cabin. It a allows for a much less intrusive overall dash design. While allowing a decent size screen to be placed higher (essential for nav glancing) for the infotainment purposes. I actually like how the Stinger's screen is mounted on top of a slightly lower dash section, keeping the main top dash lines separate.

Fair point, and it's obviously subjective. IMO though the "less intrusive overall dash design" claim only works if the screen is retractable, though. Also, if anybody is interested, whoever setup that website didn't disable directory browsing, so feel free to go to their base directory, root around the folders, and click any index.html files that you might find.

One example is the image used for as the forum banner at the top of every page. For what ever reason, this seems to be the same image I always see on the screen in just about every picture and video I come across. I did find one video where they had HVAC controls on screen instead. I all cases, the screen seems to just be white text & graphics on a black background. Pretty drab and uninspiring. Who knows though, maybe thats not the final version of UVO that will come with the car.

I think we can look here (link below) for what to expect, but what may be delivered may very well be different (better?). I will be expecting the top spec GT to have it all.

Here's hoping that Kia sees more value in homogenizing heir infotainment platform than they do in model differentiation. I'd have no complaints if the Stinger got the same system that the K900 has.

I actually hope not. I don't believe the Kia K900 has Apple Carplay or Android Auto capability. If Kia were to upgrade it to allow capability then I would not mind having a 9.2 inch screen in the Stinger.
