Lower grille gt

Can anyone who has had the front bumper cover off tell me what’s behind the blocked off grill holes(inner lower grille between the two uprights) I’m planning to open those up and want to be sure nothing is directly behind that area that could be damage when I use the hole saw to install a 2” round vent. I know the inter cooker is back there but it looks like it’s several inches away. Thanks

You know it's there, but can you actually SEE the blocked off ends from five, six feet away? To me this is sort of the same as disliking the placement of the camera and sensors "plate" in the middle of the upper grille and faking the chrome high points with a pattern to match them. The solid plate is more visible than the lower grille solid ends. Of course, if you have a GT then your upper grille (like mine) is pierced all the way across, in other words it looks "natural" without that plate in the middle; and this "frees" you to fixate on the fake pattern at the ends of the lower grille.

Yep agree. I’ve got some 2” round plastic screened vents that I thought would look great in the middle of those blocked off areas. Just don’t want to saw through something vital and would rather not remove the nose

I've read a bunch of times on here that removing the bumper cover is "easy." Pursue that before poking sharp things through the plastic blindly. I'd PM @General_Vodka he's the forum go-to source for all things Stinger rebuild related.

you should be good. The outside temp sensor isn't in the way. You will probably just open up the holes in front of the black plastic elbows.

You need
1 pop tab remover (you know what i mean)
1 10mm socket and at least 5 inches if extension
Follow mishimoto intercooler guide and on my third time removing the bummper (cooler pipe popped off) i can remove and install in less than 15 min.
Fake it till you make it and removing the bummper makes it easier to manipulate and get the cuts perfect.

Old thread I know.. Custom Grills makes a lower mesh to replace the honeycomb and blocked off sides. Just use a dremel and cut them out as per installation instructions. Then you get the metal mesh grill in place and goop the heck out of the sides haha.

Dremel? Are you serious? How do you clean up the cuts? What color is the plastic beneath the gloss dark chrome finish?

If you don't feel comfortable cutting, he sells the completed lower grill. That way, all you have the do is install it.

Interesting idea. But kind of a bug catcher I think. Also, you would need an aftermarket intercooler to make it look good. Putting that grille mod in front of a stock intercooler would not look cool. Too much white.

Agreed, it's a big catcher and looks great with a aftermarket IC. I can confirm the increased airflow positively impacts coolant, oil, and transmission temps. Just more air hitting the coolers.

Ya probably.. I have aftermarket..well pretty much everything lol.. I just got done the mesh but have not installed it as yet. Definitely need to get it on now.. besides stopping stuff from damaging the intercooler.. that lower insert is also a big structural integrity for the front bumper wrap.
