Audio Keeps Popping / Cutting Out Randomly

I wish that I could say, 'replace this replace that', specifically. I do know that entire stereo/radio have been replaced for less issues than what you describe. Worst case was a complete replacement and the cutting out issue persisted. Then 'they' discovered the coil packs were bad and causing it.

Mine will always be there. It sometimes it worse when car is running. So thought maybe checking the coils- but after reading sounds like it won’t do it at all when off if it’s the coils.

Yeah, you'd think that any competent shop would run the stereo with the engine on, then with the engine off and make obvious comparisons. But it seems that this coils association is new wisdom, thus the replaced stereo that I mentioned. "Eh? It's busted Jim, replace it with a new one." "Oops, that didn't work, don't tell KIA Corp, they'll get really upset." Etc.

Exactly! I think mine has to be an amp problem.. or a grounding wire. Some people even think it is a software update. But if they could hear it- they might not think that.

Hi everyone,
I had the same problem on my Stinger GT 3.3L AWD canadian model. By the end , the sound could cut like 10 times in 1 min., I was about to get crazy. They tried to replace de radio, amplifier and everything that was connected to the radio, nothing worked. So the dealer contacted Kia technical assitance.

This issue is caused by an interference in the SPDIF wire signel between the amplifier and the Radio. SPIDF wire are very sensitive to interference. To fix this issue, the car was sent to Kia regional office, and they replace de SPIDF wire. The tech support that worked on my car told me, that the factory grounded the wire at two different places, so the shield that protect the signal from interference wasn't reliable.
He also told me that they had a few Stinger with this problem and they all replace the SPDIF wire signal too fix it.

From now on, everythings fine. I had this fixed 10 month ago.

Hope this will help you.
I know this is a way old post. But by chance do you know what exact wire was replaced? Our car has 3 SPDIF wires (high) (low) and a ground. I have had no audio for like 3 weeks.

This is a HUGE help to me. I'm the shop foreman at a Kia dealership, and i'm dealing with a 2019 Stinger with this same issue in the audio clip. There Is no relevant information through Kias service information, or bulletins addressing this. Previous techs have replaced the amp, and head unit trying to fix this problem, and it didn't correct it. That's why i'm involved in the vehicle. i've been through nearly everything on this trying to track down this issue, from checking all ground lugs, and cleaning, removing components down the line trying to find what affects the concern, disconnected all the speakers one by one trying to isolate an intermittenly shorted speaker, disconnected, and bypassed both DC/DC converters, and have found myself at a loss. I'm currently on my lunch break researching this issue, and i ran across your post, and this makes perfect sense. I'm going to dig into this after lunch, but man, you have no idea how much this one post helped me. I knew this couldn't be a one off issue. Thank you so much for sharing this.
Did that fix your problem?

Approximately how much did this cost you? I am having the same issue but Kia doesn't believe me that this is what the issue is, even though I'm about 99% sure it is..

I just changed my coils, rust on #1 and now radio works perfectly

If you have not changed your coil packs to the newer ones this is why you should do it. 2021 and prior leak and will eventually

cause a CEL after it fouls a plug or causes the ecu to freak out. It also causes the radio/carplay/android auto to drop in and out.

Those spots are where the voltage is leaking and grounding out on the head thus causing the audio drops and engine misses.

The audio will be fine with the engine off, but once running you will here the aforementioned issue.
