How to install OEM Wireless Charger on your Stinger

You've just got to push, push down on both knobs to get even distribution. You've got to push harder than you think and it's a little scary but that's the only way it will come out from what I remember.
This^
Put a microfiber down under it so you don’t scratch anything.

Scary it is, P22Tyler -- really feels like I might break something. So, no screws that hold the panel in place? Where are the catches/clips? Are they behind the panel only or are there some on top of the panel also?

Thanks for the response P22Tyler and nhcowboy28.

I'm thinking about purchasing the Oem wireless charger. Can anyone tell me the length of the charging pad. I just want to make sure my big phone will fit on it thank you.
Samsung S20 (ultra) will kind of fit if you wedge it in there. It wont fit with a charging cable or a thin case on the phone. But the wireless charger is too slow anyways, I use a 45 watt charger, charges real quick.

Nope, no screws. Clips are behind the panel from what I remember. When I was doing the install I had to check the instructions again just to make sure I was doing it right because of how hard I had to push to remove it. I thought I must have missed a step but nope, it just takes more force than you expect to remove it.

I have a Note20 Ultra with a case on it that hovers just right so that it will still charge.

OK, grateful thanks. Will give it another try.

Thank you sir. This was definitely a very fun install. Loving this feature so far.

The car will let you know that the phone is in the charging station once you shut off the car and open the door. That way you don't forget your phone inside :D
I don’t get that message. My car just shuts off.

Gents. Is working. With the cover and the pad. In my exitment and ignorance did not know it doesn’t work with the door open lol.
had the parts laying around for 2-3 years
finally got around to it today (great write up btw), finished install then couldn't get wireless charging to work
thought i possibly didn't clip a wire harness properly when re-assembling was getting annoyed
but then i saw this, and it was that the driver's door was open while i was testing in my garage

I have a 2018 GT2 and have been thinking of getting a wireless charging unit. I have seen the unit being sold at K8 Stinger Store, Khartunerz and RPMtrade on ebay, but I've never purchased from them and I'm not familiar with any of them. I was hoping to get some help from the members here and get your input as to where you purchased yours. Thanks.

You can't go wrong with the @K8 Stinger Store I've had nothing but good experiences with them. Including the purchase of a wireless charging pad.

I use the k8stingerstore.com for 80% of my mods.

Does anyone have the dimensions of the charging pad area in inches? I read all the forums on the subject and searched the internet and could not locate this information. I want to make sure if I do this modification my iPhone 14 Pro Max will fit.

My Google Pixel 7 doesn't fit

it pains me to see people spending money and going through the effort to install the factory wireless charger - it is a piece of crap.

i disabled mine, removed the rubber pad, and placed a thin aftermarket wireless charger on top of it, plugged in to the 12V cig lighter with a USB adapter. my Samsung S21 Ultra with S-Pen case fits ... and actually charges and doesn't get blazing hot, unlike the factory charger. i can't say that a giant phone with a massive Otterbox-style case would fit, but that probably wouldn't fit in the factory charger, either.

Thank you for the response. That is why I asked to mitigate the cost and time for something that is ineffective and I would not be happy with.

I had to get to the USB connections of this module and thus used this guide.

2 NOTES:
1) On cars without the shift-by-wire (so trims bellow GT2), you dont need to remove any the shifter itself, just one screw on drivers side that attaches the center console to the transmission

2) In regards to removing the climate controls I discovered a bit easier of a way then using your fingers. I took 2 non marring tools and used them as pry bars to get better leverage:

I had a 2019 with wireless charging before I got my 2022. The charger in the 2022 would sometimes charge for a short time and stop and often not charge at all. The 2019 was far more consistent and seemed to be more powerful too. They are different part numbers and clearly different charging units. It looks like Kia was trying to improve the charger in 2022 by adding fans and flowing air between the phone and charger but the performance is terrible. So I swapped out the 2022 unit for a 2019 and it certainly seems to be charging more consistently in the short time since I've done it. As a bonus I now have the AUX port that was removed in 2022.

It's much easier to just pull the console back a little once all the retaining bolts are removed and pop the climate unit out by pushing on the retaining clips from the back. The knob/button unit pops right out and it's being pushed out in the correct direction so nothing is being bent in a way it's not supposed to be.
