Had to Stinger-ize my Genesis G70!

Always was jealous of the tail on the Stingers, looks SO much better w/ the quad tips. Not sure why Genesis decided to go with the lame oval chrome trim rings vs. a real exhaust tip setup. At any rate, decided to DIY a quad tip setup and this was what I came up with, it's not flush like the Stinger as there was no way to get that flush fit with any available exhaust tips that would work w/ the Genesis diffuser. Had to go with a staggered angle cut dual tip, but very happy with the result. And thanks for the forum you provide over here, check in often and this place stays busy w/ plenty of helpful postings. been following the oil tube recall posts here and good to know they're figuring it out and getting it done pretty well now

I mean the Stingers tips aren't "real" either. They aren't even attached to the rest of the exhaust. A fact I didn't even realize for awhile after I bought my car. Was cleaning the tips for the first time and I found out. I do think oval tips fit the back of your car better.

The oval rings look clean, but takes away from the rest of the sport design in the 19-21 models IMO, the new 22-current models I think it looks more in line w/ the rounded modern look. If you saw mine in person I think you might agree, but ???

Guess it depends on what you mean by "real". Truly fake exhausts do things like run to a single side but add tips on the other to mimic a dual exhaust, or have doubled tips with only a single exit.

Ours are "fake" in the sense that the actual exhaust pipes aren't attached, even though they point through them. I think that's legitimate because the exhaust itself is not rigidly attached to the car, so if the tips were connected they'd need a bigger gap in the bumper to allow movement.

Some users have reported more drone with aftermarket exhausts due to the opening behind the bumper / under the hatch, and as a solution have used exhaust wrap tape to connect the exhaust pipes to the tips, as a kind of flexible coupling.

I've always enjoyed lavishing attention on the chrome tips every time that I wash my car, making sure that there is no spotting, and keeping the soot from building up. I think that the pre-refresh tips are better looking too. But I wouldn't change a thing on my Stingers, not even the traditional KIA badges.

People have complained about the fake vents on the stinger, the fake tips bother me more. Best thing about getting an aftermarket exhaust besides the sound is the nice tips. If I did an exhaust, I'd still have the stock tips. Don't get me wrong the stock tip design isn't bad on the 18-21 at least, not a fan of the 22+ tips. I'd just prefer my tips to actually be attached like any other car I've had. Plus it's way easier to clean them if they were a traditional tip than being mounted up inside the bumper.

Always liked the tips on my previous cars and the tips on the Lightning are very nice as well.

I need to paint the back of the muffler cans a high heat black, should have done it right after I welded the longer 2.5" pipes to the back of the cans. That silver showing through will drive me crazy as time goes on, so they will be painted this weekend lol.

Don't have any of those anymore, besides the Lightning. Used to be a Pontiac guy, we know what GM did to them.

Meant to paint the back of the muffler cans a satin black, got caught up in the rest of the project and forgot to do it when I had them out, DOH!!
Ended up just pulling the tips out, packed some plastic over the mufflers for overspray and was able to shoot them without removing them, just removed the rear hangers and was able to get it sprayed. Put 3 coats of VHT high temp caliper paint (good for up to 900 degrees) then put some copper anti seize on the clamp bolts and the outside of the muffler pipes, should make any future removals much easier. Never got pics of just the quad pipes so here they are too.

Which fake vents are you referring to? I know the hood vents are fake, but the front fender side vents are not.
I didn't like the piano black of the Stinger vents, so I replaced them with Carbon fibre vents. Looks better.

When the Stinger was first released back in 2018 there was many complaints about how the hood vents were fake. Although plenty of cars have fake vents. The newer BMW Supra, plenty of SN95s Mustangs my 89 Trans Am gta I used to have, also had fake vents and fake heat extractors (double whammy) didn't hear many people complaining about them.


I'm sure plenty other cars do as well. I think everybody would rather not have fake stuff on their cars, I get it. The Stinger could definitely use some kinda hood with heat extraction given how hot it gets under there with those turbos. Would've been nice to have a factory hood with this but obviously that never materialized.

I think that actually looks pretty good! I remember seeing a ceramic silver Stinger with some kinda rectangular looking tops that also looked different but good.
