Bear with me as I'm still learning, but...

Can the BMS charge pipe coupler be used with the stock stinger setup instead of needing to have a bung welded onto the stock charge pipe? I've searched online and have come up empty on any feedback relating to this.

Looking at the BMS CPI KIT and the BMS Fuel-It! Coupler

The BMS CPI install instructions didn't mention this as an option, so perhaps it won't work....?

Thanks!

Did you reach out to BMS?

Did you reach out to BMS?

I emailed them and they said....

"Hi, We've never tried it and I'm not sure if it would fit or if there is even a good place to put it. The bung needs to be as close to the cold side output of the intercooler as possible. Thank you"

Did you reach out to BMS?

It seems to me that the coupler *might* work in place of where this fitting is in the picture. Thoughts?

*edit... or am I being misled in that this image from the installation guide is an aftermarket piece and not how the stock pipe connects to the intercooler?

Does anyone know what the OD is of the stock charge pipe?

The BMS coupler has an ID of 2.3".

Presuming the stock charge pipe is a 2.5" OD pipe, I would think the coupler would work in lieu of needing to weld on a bung to the pipe (as they suggest in the installation guide).

Ok, so it looks like the CPI installation instructions image is using an aftermarket IC setup.

The stock IC setup does not have an area for that coupler to attach to that I see.

BMS sent me this image with the stock IC. They were suggesting drilling/tapping the location with the red arrow for the CPI installation. Looks to be all plastic there. Thoughts?

Reach out to @Avant. He has it installed on his charge pipe and is probably the most knowledgeable about the system other than Terry.

Hi, I’m about to do this on my G70, did you figure out how to do it? I’d really appreciate any advice, Thank you.

I kind of gave up on the venture ultimately as the power gains were not really worth the effort for me and I wasn't going to invest further in the platform (I'm just daily'n map 5 on E30 and am pretty happy, although I plan to move to another platform this year probably a m440i xdrive with the b58). I think you either have to drill and tap the existing IC like BMS instructions say, or you can buy a different IC that can accept that coupler piece. I had looked at the stock IC and it wasn't going to work in any way with that coupler.

I made a thread about upgrading from where I'm at vs the cpi/ek1/bef option if you're interested. The mods would net about 40hp or so fwiw.

Running JB4 Map 5 on E30...where do I go from here for more hp/tq?

Thanks for the info. I already have cold air, Ark secondary down pipes, upgraded plugs, JB4 on E30 map 4 and a Lozic stage 3 TCU tune. I’ve been waiting on that stage two high-pressure fuel pump for months from Burger and it doesn’t seem like they’re going to get it back in so the sales rep talk to me into the CPI. It’s been a nightmare trying to get any of them to give me straight answers about the backend flash or installing to a factory charge pipe. So I basically just sent him an email asking to return it.

I was actually going to tap into this and cut my rubber factory charge pipe and install in between the section I cut out.

I’d use this in the silicone coupler
mishimoto.

Sorry form broken link too new to share.

Check my ig @wastegate_warriors and will see drilled and tapped stock manifold for dpi meth. Or will drill and tap stock Ic outlet if thick enough

My cpi kit on the way btw
Nice, just got done installing mine. I bought the BMS intercooler in the end to make life easier and a little better

Yeah this is temp solution till get a intercooler upgrade. Torn between bms or mishi since it upgrades all the charge pipe’s cleanly but sure isn’t cheap

For me it’s more than power. Can basically run full e85 after, port injectors clean carbon, and it’s 1.25$/gallon Les than 93

Just wrapped up my cpi install. Ended up drilling and tapping the manifold and sealing with e6000.

Seems be working great so far on e30.

Got the fuel it and jb4 app running on my main screen hopefully can post pics soon

Can peep my ig @wastegate_warriors
