I took my stinger to the dealership and I was told that they wouldn't perform a service (diff fluid change) because the car was running fine and there were no lights on the dash. Very interesting statement coming from a service advisor so I took my car straight home but now I need to figure this out myself. What mile did you guys do this at and did you do the front and rear? Im currently at 32k and I saw a reccomendation for it to be done at 36k. Wondering if I should bring it to a shop near me because I am not going back to that dealership

I have a 22 GT Elite (GT2) and with about 3,000 km’s ( approx. 2,000 miles) I had the fluid changed in both differentials and the transmission. This was to get rid of any metallic particles from the initial wear (break) in period. From here on, I will follow the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule.

I also had the brake fluid changed, as the car is nearing 2 years old.

The rear diff with lsd , in my manual says to replace fluid at 36k miles . So that's when I got it done made sure they used the correct fluid with the friction modifiers .. about 300 miles later I started getting shuddering and grinding from the rear diff. Took it back and they said we will order a new diff... So now it's at the dealer getting a new rear differential installed... fun. Lol.

Whoa, you got the diff fluid replaced and 300 miles later it fails? Was this at a Kia dealership and what is the mileage at which it would no longer be under warranty….60k miles?? Did the service manager take responsibility and explain how the fail may have happened? Anyone know what the correct fluid would be and the part number for the diff of an AWD 2022?

Yep. Dealer did it. They did not really give much reason except it happened and they immediately warranty ordered the replacement part. I know they at least ordered the lsd correct fluid as they had to order it from kia and we has to wait 2 weeks as they said they don't carry the lsd one in stock as they don't do many.

Only the awd indigo and gts in the USA has the lsd with awd. All other us model awd just have an open diff and you don't have to worry about that . They have a longer replacement interval as well.

, hmm I'm not sure if the differential is part of the power train warranty which would be 100k miles. . Or the 60k bumper to bumper.

Yes . Most won't. Only the usa spec indigo edition and gts with d-awd have the lsd in the states.

I don't recall the exact mileage, but you're not anywhere near it yet [it's not 36k]. You could get the front done at some point, but the car is rear wheel biased and the rear is likely seeing more heat/wear, necessitating it to be done. There's a chance the front won't ever actually need it.
