I’m on the fence…right now my 2018 GT1 is completely stock. I’m about the pull the trigger on a Jb4 but I’m worried about damaging the engine and my overall lack of knowledge in this area. I don’t time to spend my weekends figuring out spark plug misfires, turbo leaks and other things I could screw up lol.

Realistically is there any value to doing just the jb4 and nothing else?

Or is that not even an option…are there other things I’d need to purchase to even use the jb4 or get any discernible impact?

And when it comes to maps…are you all creating them on your own? Are you buying custom tune files from an expert?

Honest opinions appreciated!

JB4 itself is fine and definitely need spark plugs change with it and proper gap. Maps are pre set and depends on your current octane.

JB4 doesn't have to be a huge project.

Most of those folks you mention are trying to eek out more performance than the standard maps. But Map 2 is a significant gain over stock with very little fiddling (just plugs and good gas).

I'd recommend intakes too, stock intakes are a restriction when running more boost.

Cool, thanks!

Speaking of intakes…What’s your opinion on Velossa Tech Ram Air snorkels?

Any benefit running snorkels alone? Pairing snorkels with aftermarket intakes?

JB4 requires different spark plugs at different-than-OEM gap. Look into the replacement parts and process.

I have JB4, intakes and Velossa Tech snorkels. I had intakes and JB4 before snorkles, and i cant really say that i notice anything. there should be more air, but hard to tell. I have not launched or driven really aggressively since install either. They do look good, and aren't that bad to install.

JB4 with correct plugs has made the most difference. As mentioned above Map2 is noticeably better, I daily drive on map 1 and its a bit more fun.

Really easy to install JB4, plugs are easy except the one under the throttle body, but can get it with wobblies. Get the JB4 and some 93 or Ethanol (have not tried that yet) and see how long your rear tires last (unless you are AWD).

Thanks, Herb - that's helpful stuff. Appreciate it!

I highly recommend it if you are looking for safe and reliable additional power. BMS makes a great product with the Jb4 and it is highly trusted within the community.

I started with just the jb4 and K&N panels in the stock airbox using map 1 and 2. I have since upgraded and every mod has had some degree in improvement. And I am not talking about butt dyno or Dragy numbers either, these are real numbers at a dragstrip.
After the panel filters, I did the BMS intercooler, this helped with IAT's and brought my ET down a couple tenths. I then put in BMS CAI, again a couple tenths. After, I played with E30 on map 3 and 4, probably 4 tenths. Then a Lozic TCU, again maybe 4 tenths mostly due to getting a real launch on AWD which is impossible with stock LC.
Now running WMI, and again probably 4 tenths. My best time late last year was 11.80 1/4 mile.
Still waiting to get out to the track this year, opening day was supposed to be Mar 1, but everything has been rained out.

Cool, love the progression…gives me something to shoot for. Thanks!
