New Short Engine Block

Update : Finally got the car back. Driving home cruising and cel pops up. Call dealership and I drive back. They inspect the codes and it was a slight misfire he stated. The tech is not sure of the cause. Driving back home again and the cel pops up . Once home cut the car off and five minutes later turn it on and the cel is gone. Tech told me to monitor it and they will handle anything that needs to be done whether coil pack, plugs, or injectors but they did not find anything. Definitely will keep a close eye out on this. Praying for some good luck finally with the vehicle. Intakes and custom exhaust is all I have mod wise and will continue to have . Don’t want to add the jb4 until I know the car is running good and healthy . I believed I asked this question before but is there something wrong with plugs/cylinders on stingers as a whole ?
Were the coil packs changed when the HKS plugs got replaced for the OEM plugs? I don't imagine the injectors are bad but anything could be possible. I put a whole bottle of SI-1 Redline Complete Fuel System Cleaner in my tank every 3k miles to try to keep it injectors clean.

You can try emptying a bottle into the tank when nearly empty, if a fuel treatment hasn't been preformed in a while.

They just replaced the plugs not the coil packs with the oem plugs. So if this continues to be a problem with the cel popping back up you think that’s the main root cause ?

And I’ll try to give that fuel cleaner a try. With the fuel cleaner you pull it directly into the fuel system before your fuel tank is almost empty ? And thanks for the help and feedback

Lemon that car.

Anytime!

Yeah, I think a bad coil pack could be a prime suspect. This fuel system cleaner goes directly into your gas tank. Once I'm lower than 50miles range, I'll empty the cleaner into the tank and fill up with 93 gas. After that drive around like normal.

Coil packs, plugs, cylinders seem like a weak point for the stinger at least imo and has to be monitored my short time owning this car. Anyways thanks for the help bro and insights and I’ll continue to update thread with problems/solutions. Thanks

You really aren't free with the car.

May be coil packs. Since I assume they put back the stock plugs.

You're welcome!

Correct, those are the weak points. Sucks you have to deal with all these problems, keeping this thread updated can help spread some insightful information.

As far as I know the HKS plugs are a two step colder plug, I could see that casing issues on a non tuned motor.
A lot of people run HKS plugs on jb4 tuned engines, and since the jb4 really only kicks in when you start hitting the throttle pretty hard, I find it hard to believe that a stock tune would cause so many problems with HKS plugs but not on jb4 tuned cars.

I had the lap3 1.5 tune with the hks plugs when my engine failed.

Sounds like a coil.

coil packs are replaced free under warranty up to 60,000 miles, as also plugs of course.

just wanted to add i've been having problems with coils. 100% stock and only issue. my plan is to wait out post-covid manufacturing quality control a bit then order six new coils and plugs for peace of mind. my19@75k miles

Plugs, cylinders , coils im starting to find out are the weak point on the stinger . Sucks that we are all just finding this out well at least me . My car is back in the shop after cel light stayed on . They are replacing coil packs . Once I get it back highly considering parting out . Can’t deal with this ish no more . Rather have reliability than performance. My short time with the stinger has been a shit show . Only speaking from my experience . Definitely considering a Lexus rc f as my next daily . I’ll take the hit for peace of mind . Always some problems going on with stingers

So they charged me to put the stock plugs back in. They had to order some . Im assuming because I was running hks plugs that they charged me and I didn’t have oem plugs . Need to talk to the service advisor about this .

yes, I was of course assuming stock when kia honors the 60,000 miles warranty on plugs and coil packs. if you get them to meet you halfway on this or at all I will be surprised. good fortune car hunting, since it sounds like your done with the stinger.

The RC Fs are cool cars, there's a few of them around me on the road. I think Lexus has the same 5.0 V8 in the IS500.

Yeah they do. I’ve joined one of the rc f groups on fb and they seem pretty reliable and offer some great performance as well. Even the older models 15 and 16 are good. I’m actually going to test drive one today lol
