How To Adjust Headlight Beam Height

Has anyone with stock suspension thought their low-beams shine too low? I think mine do, the beams stops about maybe 40 feet in front of the car.

How far do your low-beams shine?
I didn't raise my headlights until more than a year into the car. reading about it on the forum got me to really notice that I had been compensating for the short headlight throw by using flashes of the high beams. I raised my headlights then adjusted them down some so that the top of the pool of light misses the side mirrors of most passenger vehicles.

At night on a highway at speed, I almost feel claustrophobic with the low-beams on since I can't really see anything past 40 feet.

On the other hand, the high-beams are great and really lights things up when I can use them.

When I get home from this trip I will attempt to raise the low-beams.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I used the high beams a lot on my first road trip about a month into the car. so even then I didn't appreciate how 'claustrophobic' the low beams were, but that's a good descriptor for the feeling before you raise them.

Link?? I bought a #2 but the shaft is too thick
If you have a HarborFreight near by, pick these up:

I bought these specifically for our G70 and Stinger, as none of my phillips were long enough, and I've got many of them. These have just about perfect size shank - slips in but no wobble.

I'm not sure 8" is long enough. If you did not feel any resistance, you haven't reached the adjuster.

The drivers side I eventually was able to adjust with what I have, but the drivers side is giving me so much trouble. I'm just gonna pull the intake out and ratchet the black bolt

My concern is if the adjuster screw will loosen. It seems kind of fragile turning.

This post is full of giggity.

I finished adjusting mine with one of those long screwdrivers from Harbor Freight. I inserted it as far as it would go and tried turning. There didn't seem to be any resistance, but I made 25 full turns and the headlights are right where I want them to be. Things were claustrophobic for me, too. Now, it's perfect.

Hi everyone. I adjusted my headlights last night. All I used was a #2 Philips with a 150mm shaft.

At first it didn't seem like I was doing it right because there was hardly any resistance, but there was a very minimal tactile response. Each turn of the screw resulted in a very small height adjustment, so it took a good number of turns to notice movement.

My Stinger is now such a pleasure to drive at night. What a difference a well-focused pair of headlights make.

So, is it possible to move low headlight beam to right/left? Mine MY18 GT2 also has a blank L/R holes.

Shine your flashlight down that blank hole. You should see some teeth.

Is it critical if almost all teeth are being broken?
wat??? you push the no. 2 philips against the teeth gently but firmly and turn a bunch of times and the lights come up a little bit. you can see it on the wall where you have your tape to mark the adjustment. teeth don't get broken.

If you’re breaking the teeth off the gears you are obviously doing it wrong. Stop and pay the dealer to do it because you have no business doing it yourself.
