After 5 months of fighting insurance, my 2019 Micro Blue Stinger GT just got totaled out. $17K of repairs (after this
) and still has frame buckle, and a broken weld joint on the front right not to mention bent engine mounts etc. My insurance finally accepted that it wasn't safe and agreed to total it - as 2019 was the last year of dealer incentives, I'm pretty much getting back what I paid for it.

Now it's time for replacement, I can't find a single thing locally. 2023 has this stupid speed limiter on the AWD's. Does anyone know any reputable dealers with stock for either a new 2023 GT2 AWD (Not red or ceramic) or a low mileage 2022 AWD GT2? Seen some on Vroom, Carvana etc. but no idea of what I'm getting at these places.

Sorry, Near SLC - Utah

i shipped my last car from out of state for $600, and still saved money ... something to think about if you find a good deal somewhere far. it was a CPO from a dealer - i wouldn't blindly buy some unknown car from a corner used car lot, though :D

Are you saying that this just happened after five months of wrangling with your insurance because of another wreck? Look at where you are driving: "Happy Valley" (aka Utah County), the land of the oblivious, distracted, multitasking, STUPID drivers! I-15 has ten times the "incidents" as Salt Lake County with a tenth the population (slight exaggerations on both points). Down there, I have seen, right in front of me, left turning drivers (less than a mile from that exact spot of your dashcam recording) both narrowly miss and "score", more than a few times over the years. It has not improved. Whenever I have to drive down there I feel like I am playing the lottery in perverse reverse (i.e., you don't want to get selected!). One thing I never do down there especially is assume that anyone in the left turn lane is going to wait: if they are moving at all I am on it. But that idiot that collected you was egregiously sudden, I doubt I would have escaped either.

Jerry Seiner had two White Stingers parked next to each other Thursday, as well as a couple of used Stingers, one Blue 2.0L (can't remember if it had a sunroof or not), and one Ceramic that you already said you don't want. The two Whites were backed against the curb facing south of the showroom, so, I don't know what their status was: I doubt that they were just parked there by owners waiting to pick up their cars after service (James V. would probably have said something to me about them when he was talking about a Stinger that came in for service the day before, Wednesday). I wouldn't go by what you research on the Net, is what I am saying. Have you actually called around in Salt Lake County?

Haha @MerlintheMad - it's so true! I'm from the UK but drivers here are just terrible. Other insurance had state minimums (15K property) so had to go through my underinsured. The shop had great reviews, but turned out to be a sham - they covered it up, charged $17K repairs including a few hours of frame pulling, swore blind they pulled the frame until I asked for the report then months later admitted they hadn't - at that point (I had photos of all the issues - including broken welds and buckles in the frame) I wrote a 40 page report and sent it to my insurance (who had refused to pay more). They ended up totalling it for $2K more than I paid for it in 2019.

Been working with Doug Smith and Jerry Seiner but nothing yet has come up. I found a 2022 GT2 Scorpion with ~9K miles on it in Black Pearl - in Texas :( Could be a fun drive home. It's RWD but doesn't have the speed limiter that the mid-2022-2023's now come with.

I don't think the 2022/2023's come with any different speed limiters then the previous model years. Think it's still based on wheel/tire AWD/RWD package that came on the car from factory.

My 2019 GT AWD 3.3 V6 had no upper limiter. Mid 2022 was when I heard they started cheaping out on the MPS tires for all-seasons on the AWD models and capping them to 149mph.

My 2022 RWD came with Michelin PS4 summer tires. As for the AWD models, yeah that's very possible. I haven't seen a single RWD 2023 for sale around here.

Also as for saying the drivers here in the US are terrible....I couldn't agree more. When I visited Europe about 8 years ago I absolutely loved driving out there. People didn't sit in the left lane going below the speed limit. They also didn't cut across 4 lanes of traffic to take an exit at the last second. Also, people don't tailgate through a traffic circle out there.

I'm still looking forward to the day my stinger remotely approaches its 136 mph speed limit, even with the tires in the sig.

Yeah I don't ever expect to come close to even the lowest limiter, let alone the 167 mph claimed top speed.

In the last 10-15 years, my concept of speed really changed. Going fast in straight lines is boring. Going fast in turns - that gets the adrenaline pumping. Going really fast in turns with a knee scraping - whole different ball game.

Err... wrong forum. :)

Sadly, last july marked the decade mark since i've been stuck with 4 wheels. I miss it some, but don't miss all the bugs and sticky hot weather. Bring on the AC!

No, that's not correct. There has always been an upper speed limiter on all Stingers. It's variable, as already suggested, by the tires from the factory. A/S tires got the 130 (140/149) MPH upper limit. Any Stinger 3.3L with Michelin PS4(S) tires is limited to 167 MPH. I know this for certain, as a friend in Saudi Arabia, @Salman, took his RWD 3.3L on the arrow straight Hwy toward the UAE up to 170 MPH: it seems that all limiters allow a few miles per hour above the rated limit. Once, only, I've had mine up to 155 MPH and it was still pulling c. one mile per hour per second when I let off. The Michelin A/S tires were actually an upgrade on A/S equipped Stingers, as before they had come with Bridgestone Potenza.

That is something I don't get. The Michelin Primacy Tour A/S on my AWD GT1 are W speed rated so 168MPH maximum speed, so would make no sense at all, and even 149MPH makes no sense. Now I could see the "traditional gentleman's agreement" of 155MPH that most of the European sport sedans that the Stinger is supposedly targeted against.

My 2019 I've had at 162mph (on a track ;)) and it had more pull. - GT 3.3 AWD. Checking the configurator, AWD now forces all-seasons and a top speed limit of 149mph. This was the mid-2022 change apparently. No ability to get an unlimited AWD anymore.

There is no such thing as a Stinger without a speed limiter. They're all limited, unless you get an ECU tune with the limiter removed.

Well we can label it now we want. My point remains that they introduced an increased limitation on all AWD models to 149mph from 168mph.

Trim: 21 GT2 RWD

My current rear tires (Michelin Pilot Sport 4) are BALD after 18.5k mi, I may need to do some long distance driving in the next few days and my local Discount Tire seems to only have a couple all season Michelin offerings in stock.
  1. Does anyone have any experience with the Michelin Primacy Tour A/S or Pilot Sport All Season? Any issues with wet weather traction?
  2. Any other tire recommendations or opinions on others?
I live in Georgia and frequently travel to Florida so I don't really need snow performance out of the tire, just decent wet road performance + dry weather performance for the more spirited drives ;). I work from home and I don't plan to ever take this car to a track.

I wanted to try the Continental Extreme Contacts, as I've heard (read) good things about them from other Stinger owners....but they're on back order :(

Just curious why you posted this here?

But if it were me, and the Michelin's were the only A/S in stock, and I needed them now, I would get the Michelins and not worry about anything. They are going to work well for spirited driving too, just not up to the PS4S performance level. I've been happy with my Nitto Motivo UHP A/S for the colder months, and would expect similar if not better performance out of the Michelins.
