I know this issue has been beaten to death. But I just want a clear answer. I just ordered the Power Stop z26 front and rear pads. Now I'm second guessing my purchase. I just want to know what are the single best pads for the money under $125 per wheel? In my search I saw DFC's, Aekbono's, Bosch, Power stop, EBC's (which are out of my range), Hawk, Centric's, to name a few. Can I get a vote on best pads or suggestions on any not listed here? I really appreciate everyone's input.

Best pads for what? What kind of racing do you do in the weekends?

Is this a commuting car?
Do you value low dust over some squeals?

Is the friction Edge codes important to you? Do you like the OEM friction ratings? Are you looking for better than stock performance? Or just low dust?

Ok, the stock pads suck. And who doesn’t want it all? I want better stopping power, least dust possible, no one likes noise, longevity is nice. I am a “spirited driver” and I hit the local 1/8 mile track once a month. If someone pulls up on me and tries me, I’m not backing down. So I’m your typical teenage driver who’s in his 50’s, that likes his car to perform I’m top shape. This is my daily, so I daily pounce it. It’s a rebuilt title so I’m not losing anymore value on it. Meaning I can have fun in it without fear of devaluing the car any further. I get on the pedal every time I drive. First time I drove the car I heated the pads and experienced the steering wheel shake this car is infamous for. I had to switch the rotors quickly. With new drilled and slotted rotors and new garbage advance auto gold ceramics pads, I will experience the same steering wheel shake and find myself bedding the pads every time I’m behind the wheel. Either that or don’t heat up the pads. Which means drive normal. I drive 15 miles on the expressway each way and I can’t not do 110 each way.

So what are the best brakes for a guy who drives his car?

OEM, if you drive like Dan Gurney, "graduated from the chicken shit school of braking". I see no reason, other than an emergency, to stand on the brakes. High speeds are not required to be descended from in an instant, suddenly.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Thanks for the info.

Just answer the question if you know, otherwise you sound like a know it all that knows nothing.

I vote Centric Posi-quiet pads if you want something easy to live with for a daily driver.

Powerstop, Stoptech, and EBC are all great options that should be able to hold up fine against the style of driving you typically do. I will be upgrading to one of those options soon as I am tired of the brakes shaking and will be looking at any of those 3. We have had a lot of people order the Power Stop brakes and just about everyone came back with great feedback.

I have the Z26 and I love them. No noise, no dust, and better stopping power at regular street brake pedal application levels. You don’t have to stomp the pedal to notice the friction difference.

I exactly answered your "question". You invited pads not listed here (in the OP). The one thing I don't know is whether or not the OEM fall within your arbitrary "under $125 per wheel", as I still have c. 8MM left on mine at over 58K miles. I "drive my car", I pass fast often and get on it when I have pole position. I just don't stand on my brakes like Ken Miles. Maybe you could too?

Subsequently you said the OEM pads "suck". I'm saying that they don't, if you use them right, and they are quiet and low on dust.

I know practically nothing about almost everything. (This is universally a fact with human beings, not just me.)

You are definitely, from what I’ve read, the exception to the rule. All I have read and experienced for myself is that the stock pads leave deposits on the stock rotors and inevitably start to shake. As I believe I stated in the beginning of my post, I immediately experienced that shaking. Additionally as I also stated, I drive very hard. That means that I punch it from one stop sign to the next, needing to step on the brakes rather quickly. And then I do it all over again in the next corner. I am what you might call, an a**hole driver ! Therefore I am looking for pads that will not leave those deposits when heated up quickly if appropriately beaded when installed. And in my opinion and based on the opinions of many many many others, the stock pads most definitely suck!

Well, then my interjecting was really not going to benefit you in the least. :D

When I first took possession of my Stinger I read the owner's manual like a bible and one of the first things I inculcated was the "break in period", which also involves the brakes: Kia recommends going easy on the brakes while breaking in the engine for the first six hundred miles: I just did what was recommended. The original pads were never bedded: at that time I didn't even know that bedded pads were a thing.

My experience with smooth brakes is the norm, or else we'd be buried in "these pads suck" posts, and we are not. But evidently your driving style will push the OEM pads beyond the pale. May your quest, for the pads that suit, be blessed with success.

Here we go again..

Bosch BC1001
Akebono ASP1001
Hawk PC 1001
EBC Red stuff

Just my choices take it for what it is.

Weird, I thought these forums were to get tips and info from other owners but apparently this particular thread got took over from a bunch of Twitter addicts. Maybe just start a shit talking thread so people who actually want info don't have to read through a bunch of BS trash talk just to maybe get some useful information?

Ive been enjoying EBC floating rotors with the Yellow Stuff pads for the last 6 weeks on my 2022 GT-Line and I am in braking heaven, love the combo! Best braking performance i've experienced, except for the Porsche 911 GT3 I once drove, but that car was 6 figs more expensive, so expected...My mechanic stated its as good as the brakes on his Porsche Macan S.
