Hi there, my stinger has developed a ticking or tapping sound coming from the driver wheel area when accelerating slowly. It's quite noticeable. Has anyone come across something like this before?
I don't think it's a pebble, I'm familiar with that squealing noise and it's not that. It's a rythmic tapping.I've read on here about that a few times: some posit that the caliper is sticking; others say check the brakes for stuck pebbles or similar; I had a very temporary thing where a small rock was inside the barrel and only stopped making noise when the wheel was spinning fast enough to trap it by centrifugal force (picked that up on a gravel road).
Funny you mention it i have the same its more of a rattling noise than a tapping i suppose it could be ticking.Hi there, my stinger has developed a ticking or tapping sound coming from the driver wheel area when accelerating slowly. Please god no lolAWD?
cv joints or wheel bearing?
These are the key diagnostics.Does the tapping sound speed up / slow down as RPM's go up or as you go faster/slower? Basically does it seem the tapping is consistent with RPM's, or with speed?
I would say yes it correlates with speed but only to about 40km/h.I thought CV joints usually start popping only while turning. They rarely make noise while going straight unless they're REALLY bad. And at least for me I've noticed wheel bearings are more of a hum/growl kinda sound.

Yes it's gone over approximately 40km/h.Ok, so if it's correlates with speed and not with RPM's, then it's something along the drivetrain/wheels/etc. Does the sound go away after 40km/h?
Ditto.I would say yes it correlates with speed but only to about 40km/h.
My warranty ends in January so I want to put this to bed asapDitto.
