Been reading through all the aftermarket exhaust/drone/tip threads, and I see some people are buying aftermarket tips and wrapping to fill a gap, and some people have had their shop cut ends at Y and weld longer to extend further out to help w drone. I haven't seen anyone mention where you extend pipes further back, but also w custom welded tips instead of the fake tips? Is this not a thing? What am I missing

Aftermarket tips clamp onto the tailpipe and create a seal, so you don't need to wrap.

I think people who are using wrap are doing so to seal the tailpipe to the stock (fake) tips.

Weld if you want but clamping tips is typically easier.

I have wondered the same question, considering people have been complaining about drone for years now. It just seems to simple a solution for people to instead buy cheap aftermarket tips from China, or spend almost $1K on Borla tips which is insane.

Exactly... No need to weld on tips or wrap. After I added the tips to my exhaust, the cabin noise level and drone was reduced to half. I have the Borla catback and Ark secondary deletes. During normal driving, it is slightly louder than stock.
