Injen Cold Air Intake 2020 Kia Stinger GT2

I purchased Injen CAI and my mechanic said there should also be a rubber box or guard around the filter to keep out all the engine hot air to get better performance. I have noticed other brands offer this with the CAI but do not see anything like it for the Injens. Any advice or experience with these with out the protective enclosed box

I watch my IATs pretty closely. Once you open the throttle and even more so when you start moving the engine bay heat isn’t much of an issue. Snorkels make a difference too.

Until I see empirical evidence, this will be as useful as butt dyno results.

My Injen intakes make more power than my previous Stillen intakes that were shielded and covered in heat reflective material. A flimsy piece of plastic with carbon fiber vinyl won't stop 200 degrees from engulfing that filter.

Does doing the CAI and a snorkel help increase engine efficiency and increase power without doing other modification. I have a brand new, 49 miles on it, GT2 touring package. I hear that CAI can help the engine run cooler and I live in a very hot area. The dealer said the CAI will not void my warranty but if I add exhaust or mess with The computer I am going to have warranty issues. Anyhow my main thing is it worth it to add the CAI while leaving the rest of the car stock? Thanks for any tips.

Intakes and snorkel will allow more dense air to be pulled in. But without a tune, you won't really gain anything worthwhile.

If heat is your concern, you're better off with a upgraded intercooler or water meth injection. The first won't do anything for power gains, and the second could definitely void the warranty if it's linked to any failures.

It's odd that the dealer will accept intakes, but not exhaust. They are literally the same fuction, just at different ends of the combustion cycle.

So even though its increasing cold air to the engine it will not help with gas milage or anything ? I wasn’t too concerned about a power boost just having the engine work mo betta!! LOL. You did say the radiator would void? I may just wait until the warranty is up to do anything. I hear the stock air flow to the engine is not a good design so thought that might help

That sounds like me when I 1st got my car last year. I was trying to keep everything warranty compliant but after a while I was like, "F it, life is too short to drive boring cars". Having my car the way I wanted it brought me more joy than worrying about what the dealer would say lol. Hell, I bring the car in to use my free oil changes with all the mods and they don't say anything. But as Stiletto said earlier, you won't see many gains from CAIs without a tune.

No problem. For around the same price as the Injen intakes, AFE have enclosed CAIs. It's pretty much down to personal preference if you want open air or enclosed intakes. Here is a picture of the AFE intakes installed in my car.

I notices on the one you have installed it looks like they lead to the front of the car to allow cold air into the boxes? Did you remove some of the stock plastic around where the air would flow into thei inclosed box to allow more air ?

Thanks! Yes, you'll take out some of the factory air ducting inside of the engine bay and I also have snorkels to make the intake airflow as open as possible without going open air.

Sweet. I am reading that although it might not affect power it does affect throttle response? Can you tell me what snorkels you use on that system. I was told that Injen as the way to go.

Snokels were the 1st mod I got on my car. Even without a tune, I noticed sharper throttle response (with the increase being greater with a tune since higher boost means sucking in more air.) The snorkels I have are no longer in production but the Velossa Tech BIG MOUTH snorkels work to same. Injen intakes are the best open-air intakes available. Snorkels are a must-have for any set of intakes and they don't suck in rain water.

Thanks so much. Yes I have some of those snorkels in the cart already. I emailed the company but many you can answer me on this. When ordering the snorkels they are $249. Does one order come with two snorkels or do you need to place two orders ?
I am looking forward to getting this done. Actually just leaving do break her in a little. Only 49 miles.

They come in a pair so you only order one. You should be able to select either the 3.3 twin-turbo V6 engine or the inline 4s. The engine you select dictates whether you get one or two snorkel(s) per order.
