Stinger discontinued in 2022

That's exactly what they're doing, the "Stinger" name is being used for an upcoming performance variant of the EV6 [again, supposedly - no launch announcement yet]. Besides the performance bits, they may make it cosmetically different enough to create some distance between the GT-Line model to justify the cost and 'sporty' classification.

The performance EV6 is named simply "GT." Are there rumors saying Kia will change it to Stinger?

So next camaro will be powered by the energizer bunny? That would be a disgrace.

If it can survive a track day, I may have to look into it..

I recnetly bought a 2022 Kia Stinger Gt line. I contacted 8 dealers around my area because of stupid dealer markups. And last week I got a call from one of the dealer where I didn't bought my stinger from that they are getting a pre order of 2023 Kia Stinger. I guess Stinger is living for another year perhaps more

Canada got confirmation it will have 2023 models for the Stinger. Australia also seems to be getting them as well.
KIA Australia has just started advertising the Stinger on television again (with a new advert featuring the facelift vehicle) so I would assume that they will continue selling them (here, at least) for a while yet.

Kia exec was on record (last year?) stating the Stinger will be living on as a trim/model, so there might be an even sportier version of the GT expected once they fully pull the plug in the current Stinger. I can see the EV6 "GT-Stinger" being a thing, but the Stinger as its own entirely different vehicle is done when it's done.

The top specification EV6 GT has 580hp and does 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds. I would be surprised if there will be another model above the GT that will have Stinger badges.

Agree, but based on what they've stated and knowing how modular the platforms are, it will be interesting to see what it ends up being. Maybe the 'scorpion' package for an EV?

BTW, 3.5 seconds isn't really *that* quick for a performance electric vehicle. lol

Now we need a Stinger Discontinued in 2023 thread!

Still have a half of a year to go. The rumors that have been posted say production will end June 30th. I suspect we'll be learning a lot about the fate of the Stinger in the next few weeks. If production is really ending soon, it will be impossible for Kia to keep their employees from spreading the news.

The car is getting long in the tooth. We're on the 7th model year. If Kia wasn't planning on discontinuing it I think we would be seeing spy shots of it's successor posted on the internet. Unless they're planning on making it the Nissan Frontier of sedans.

The fact we're down to 2 trims this model year and "special edition" packages for the remaining trims I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was really the last year.

Disappointing to say this but my bet is this will be the Stingers last year.
Kia’s focus is now on the EV6 especially the top spec GT to be used as it’s new generation “halo” car to draw customers into dealerships.

I think there's really no doubt that there won't be an ICE successor to the Stinger. The Stinger's purpose was to prove what KIA can really do - and that mission has been fulfilled. It's just a question of when the production of the current version will end.

That's my guess too.

Would love to see the Stinger go out with a bang. A GT RS style with racing buckets and heaps of fat trimmed, and a cage and....well, a street registered race version.

Won't hold my breath but THAT would be a great way to end the line and make a collectable at the same time (IMO).

Except the way Kia has been increasing the Stinger's price it would probably cost $100k.
