My 20 inch rims stick out past my tires. Is this a problem or is it okay/normal?

I have a 2022 kia stinger GT line AWD and I recently purchased 20 inch niche rims. M222 model to be exact. My specifications that I asked for are
Front 20x9 +35
Rear 20x10.5 + 40

Tires
Front: 245/35/20
Rear: 275/30/20

I attached a picture so you can see what I am talking about. The rim sticks out past the tire and I dont really like it. I can deal with it if its just a look thing but I dont know enough about this. If this will lead to an issue in the tires/rims down the road, id like to fix the issue now. any info you guys can provide will be hugely appreciated.

On a 10.5 rim and a 275 tire it is streched so that is the look you get should run a 285 tire then no stretch

I don't think it's a problem other than look and it's easier to curb the rim for road rash maybe a shorter tire life

this is a 285 on a 10.5 not my car but I'm done a lot of research on this so I know what I want to buy, rear is a 45 offset front is a 23

gotta drop that ride too. Ark GT-F springs will close up some of that wheel gap without being too aggressive. the gap plus the stretched tire is what's throwing the look off.

"I don't really like it" means that aesthetically you will always be dissatisfied. You can't go into a car wash tunnel without sooner or later having your left rims rashed on the guide rail (ask me how I know). Even the OEM rims are exposed enough to have this happen (same voice of experience talking, hah). And of course, as mentioned, curbs are just reaching for that exposed gorgeous metal (ditto, ditto).

As for the look, actually you're right in the "ideal" column according to this simplified tire to rim width chart:

My summer wheels are 8.5 in front and 9.5 in the rear, running the OEM Michelin sizes, so, you can see that my setup isn't as "ideal" as yours: a bit of stretch in the front tires, but my rear tires are "ideal" on a 9.5 rim. Interestingly, the 8.5 OEM rear wheel shows the 255 tire as the maximum size: but I know that folks on here run a lot wider on the 8.5 wheel without any apparent ill effects.

As far as potential stress on the tires, there is none. Running a wider than recommended width tire means less stability (too much side wall flex): and running a stretched tire can affect tread wear but doesn't pose a risk of tire failure (except, of course, an extremely stretched tire, but I don't know anyone who would put up with the look on their Stinger).

im stuck between I like it and eeeh. I am lowering it next and then ill see how it looks. ill go up to 285 tires and I should be okay after that. thank you for the reply !

is this your car ? what are the exact offsets and sizes you are running ?

Off set is +45ET rear 20+10 1/2
Tire is 285/30 Front is +23ET 20+9 245/35
lowered on springs

This is 20x9 +35(32 with spacer) and 20x10 +45 on 245/35/20 and 285/30/20 Michelin Pilot Sport AS3+ tires.

Something seems a bit strange. Are you certain those are 10.5" wheels and not 11"? That stretch looks a bit unhealthy, as the sidewall is at a 75 degree angle. I personally wouldn't want to spend much time on those tires, especially in the twisties.

If you indeed have 275's on a 10.5" wheel, I would 10000000% go with a 295 width tire. The 285 is going to only add 5mm on each side, and it will still be a bit stretched, judging by your photos. On other cars, guys with 285's on a 10.5 wheel wish they went with a 295, for what it's worth.

Yup, something is not right whatsoever. If I were the OP, I would remove those tires immediately. The wheels need to be measured, then installing much wider and appropriate tires.

Keep in mind that different tires have different shoulder tread designs and some even have an extra lip guard to help prevent some curbing.
