Suspension Performance and How to Improve it!

I'm rather curious what the ideal routes for coilovers are and good baseline setups for them are? Mine is a 22 GT1 with AWD, only issues I really have are low speed understeer when really pushing the car hard. Which could just be me not braking hard enough or early enough going through a corner. But are there any good comparisons of coilovers and "ideal" setups on them?

If you haven't done front and rear sway bars I would start there

The rear sway bar is the only one I plan on doing rn to induce oversteer to counteract my understeer issue. They are on my list of things to grab though.

For those that have paid a shop to install lowering springs, what kind of hours were ya getting for labor?

I ended up going with the Ark GT-F springs and sway bars.
I’m currently on H&R springs with Mando module which I’m extremely happy with. The rear still has a little boat feeling so I’m hoping swaybars would take car of that. What brand swaybars do you have?

Do both - Check out the posts from people who only did the rear and added the front afterwards - I did front and rear Eibachs and it really does transform the handling of the car

That would include me. I was on a rear Eibach for a year and a half. Oversteer was made more incipient with the stiffer rear bar, but I adapted to expect it and would only push until I felt the steering get light and "fidgety". When I added the front bar my ability to carve a curve increased dramatically: the consistent steering feedback and lack of oversteer has allowed me to push faster: now the point of oversteer seems to match with the beginning of tire "hiss": since I do not push to the point of tire "howl", I have never experienced oversteer since adding the front bar.

Merlin, what settings do you use for front and rear sways?

Pretty sure he has both on soft. Most run soft. I run soft on both and am pretty happy. Would only think about switching to hard if I do a track day or something.

Jason S,

I have the Ark sway bars and have front and rear set to the soft setting.

That is how it is: just following Eibach's instructions. I wouldn't want the ride to be stiffer than this. It's just right.

The Eibach Sways on the soft setting is money. Far superior to the factory bars. I topped it off with Whiteline end links and had the ATQ collars/bolts installed at the same time. I don't think any other suspension changes are necessary, for me.

I've been looking at the adjustable end links, how do you determine where exactly to set them? If the car is on Jack's do you compress the suspension when your dialing em in?

Im presently running the WhiteLine adjustable endlinks with the ATQ subframe bolts/collars while I wait for the sways to arrive from backorder. But I can definitively state, that they do make a noticeable difference already, can't wait to get the sways installed- it's been nearly 7 weeks...

There's a YouTube video around that shows this, basically- while on the vehicle is on the ground, rotate the barrel adjuster so its a bit loose in either direction, then you lock it down with the nuts.

I was questioning the subframe bolts and collars a little when I ordered them.. my Kia dealership installed em for me for free when I was there to get the rear hatch warranty fix... They do make a difference, it's not real noticeable but the car feels more solid and refined when tearing around the back road turns etc..

If you want to go further then chassis braces are a good option. My roof creaks now when coming down from my driveway because all the bottom chassis flex is restricted lol.
