Bought my new 2022 Stinger GT2 in January 2022 and LOVE IT!

Got rear ended this last week and was pretty devastated as I've only had it for less than 2 months and haven't even gone past 1000 miles yet.
As far as I can tell there isn't a lot of damage underneath from what I can see, and my car doesn't alert to any sensible damage. My trunk still closes but it does have some visible warping where the trunk meets the body inside.
Just took her in to a body shop today so they can estimate if there are any other repairs necessary.

My biggest issue right now is that because of the National Back order on pretty much EVERYTHING, they said my car might be sitting around for awhile waiting for those parts.
Hopefully they can get it fixed up just enough so I can drive it home without having to tow it again. What a nightmare.

Has this happened to anyone else recently? What was your experience with damage to the back end of these cars?
I am super worried because it was SO hard to find this color and model together. I had to drive almost an hour and a half away to another KIA dealership to get.

Just hoping she's back to new soon so I can keep enjoying it. I have so many plans for customizing!

Don't forget to seek diminished value from the the other party's insurance. Not sure what all is involved, but I regret not seeking this when our car was hit while parked. Folks at carmax and others quickly identified there was body work done and thus reduced tradein.

Welcome to the club!

I'm still waiting on mine, already been a month and they haven't even started yet.

Only had mine for two weeks, so you got me beat there.

Thanks! Didn't know that was a thing. Will be calling my insurance anyways because if I am out of a car for 2 months I also would like to get reimbursed for the car payments (if that is even possible )

So sorry to hear that! It's the worst feeling. I am happy I got out of it with no harm done to myself but I know I'll be extra nervous next time I drive it on the freeway (whenever that will be ). Hope yours is up and running again soon!

Oh crap, that's awful. :( Welcome regardless. I get sorely ticked over a little nick, so, I can imagine.

So unfortunate! Hate that happened to you as I'm particular with mine too. I was on the interstate the other day and passed an extension ladder laying in the middle of a lane. (2nd time I've seen that in my lifetime) Fortunately I was exiting and wasn't in that lane. You just never know...
Goodluck with getting it repaired.

There seem to be a rash of these rear-enders these days. With the way I see people drive every day where I live, it is not surprising. Nobody seems to realize that their primary job while driving is... driving.

The self-driving revolution can't come soon enough.

The same thing happened to me with my 2019 GTS. My pictures from back then are pretty similar. From my experience watch out for hatch rattle when you get it back. There are pretty easy fixes online if this happens.

Will do! I am going to work closely with my auto body shop. If there are ANY things I notice I am going to tell them about it. I am sure they understand and will be on board with the fixes.

I live in Los Angeles and I see accidents every day which sucks. I have done a pretty good job avoiding them! Unfortunately I couldn't avoid this one, even though I tried. I saw the guy not slowing down and tried to move forward slightly but it wasn't enough. Any more forward and it would have pushed me into the car in front of me
:(

Yeah it's awful! Thanks, I am hoping to hear back soon about what all needs to be done.

Heard back yesterday about repairs. No major damage!! Just a waiting game on parts. The floor of the trunk, where the spare tire rests, was hit mainly, and will have to be replaced. But other than that, no structural damage or cracks anywhere else!

I agree strongly with the first paragraph. Not the second. If we have self driving an overreaching government like we have so often can tell you when and where and how long you can drive. Ripe, very ripe for gross abuse. Don

Same as mine, weird.

Stopped at red light and some non compos mentis on a Harley with ape hangers comes up behind and tries some stunt and clips my left rear. Gashes the tire side wall and scrapes up the wheel and bends in and separates the bumper from top and the ape hangers scratch up rear hatch glass. Dude has been this route before and is wearing leathers, so as he slides about 30 feet down the asphalt he doesn't get a scratch. Took it to Kia collision center and they repaired the existing rear, replaced the wheel and glass and I replaced both rear tires (had to pay for 2nd tire and part of original) You may be lucky if they have to replace the entire bumper system and bumper since the repair on mine left it with a small indentation that's just preceptable if you look. Of course Progressive insurance gave me a crappy rental. They did pay for an alignment, thankfully so it drives beautifully as before and maybe better with up graded tires. Yamamotos. Tires are hard to get now and had to wait a couple of weeks for new "bumper hanger" part from Kia.
I had been following this dude on the Harley for a couple of miles and watched him do crazy stuff but finally got around and way ahead of him, but when I stopped at the light, looked in rear mirror and here he comes, then bam.
Bottom line: the more whole sections they have to replace, the better off you will be.

At least we know the car is solid I guess  Dreading the wait time for parts. Any suggestions on how to keep the car in good condition until it's able to drive again? Kinda makes me nervous just storing it for 1-2 months. Was thinking of at least driving it around the block every few days. Just don't want to risk any other issues.

Borderline gov't conspiracy stuff aside, I agree. I've watched a handful of self driving Tesla videos on Youtube recently. The car drives like its drunk and on a few of the videos the car made VERY dangerous and grossly incorrect decisions. This was with fairly recent software as well. IMHO this is never going to be a reality, we would have needed to create cities fundamentally different from day one knowing this was coming. As it is, we're better off with distracted drivers and nannies than with a half blind, drunk computer driving for us.
