For those who have more knowledge than me please give me your thoughts and advice....

I installed the BMRP catback and AEM cold air intakes about 5 months ago and i am currently having the following installed (car is in the shop right now)....

1. Wagner intercooler with charge pipe and air ducts
2. Ultimate Performance HFC downpipe + midpipe combo
3. HKS M45iL plugs
4. RaceChip GTS

My question/concern is…. The RaceChip that I plan to have installed along with all of the above. With all of these modifications is there anything else that ill have to do to as far as tuning the car in addition to just running the RaceChip? Or can I just plug the RaceChip in and run it on any of the 7 maps that it comes with? I've heard once you reach a certain amount of HP you’re supposed to get your car professionally tuned so you dont blow your turbo’s or ruin your motor so im just wondering if this will bring me to that point. I know the RaceChip is a piggy back/ flash tune like the JB4 but im just worried that im altering my motor beyond the point of just plug and play. Do i need to get this thing on a dyno and have someone really tune it or can i just add all of these mods and drive it as i would if nothing were on it, without worrying about hurting my motor?

I'm having the guys at the shop hold off on installing the tuner as I am not sure what to do once they have the chip installed on top of everything else. the shop is telling me that they dont have a guy there that is trained with the Kia platform therefore they can throw it on the dyno but can only a map that i provide which I know the RaceChip comes with 7 maps already. Just unsure if there is anything i need to do beyond that.

Also, should i change the OEM set up and add BOV's? Heard at a certain point it's better to release it into the atmosphere instead of having it recirculated?

Please help. Thanks in advance!

Should’ve gotten JB4 instead with EWG wires. Doubt the Racechip will solve your overboost problem once you install your HFC and midpipe.

The overboost issue is a new one for me, never heard of it. Can you elaborate a little? Do most people end up getting an overboost problem when installing downpipes/midpipes? My goal is to avoid any sort of issue at all. If the racechip will be an issue, ill sell it and get a JB4. I got the racechip because i didnt want to run e85 and from what i understood not all maps require it but the higher maps do and with the racechip there is no special fuel needed.

Solid advice you got there from @ChaneRZ . With those mods you’ll want the ability to log. Scrap your chippy thing and go JB4 and/or ECU tune. But with the ECU tune you will still want to log so you’ll want the JB4 anyway. Nice mod list by the way, you might want to add an OCC to it.

I 2nd what @cncBilly is saying. get rid of the chip and get a JB4 for a much better experience and logging, then if you feel like you need more, you can get a dedicated ecu tune and keep the JB4 for logging, as thats always a good idea.

With "Ultimate Performance HFC downpipe + midpipe combo" i would definitely go custom ecu tune.

yeah i think JB4 is the way to go for now. I'd like to get an ECU tune but i dont know enough about the tuner's around me to make a solid decision and the guy at this shop doesn't have a guy that is trained with the Kia platform. he'd have to remote connect with the guy and according to him "he's only dabbled with kia" so that just sounds like a nightmare waiting to happen.

Thanks, yeah im pumped. Im getting it wrapped and wheels powder coated as well so it's going to be an entirely new car .. Installed an OCC before i brought it to the shop.

The only trustworthy people to ECU tune these cars are all on here anyway, so forget about the local guys. (Tork, Lozic, Lap3, Sixth element)

Edit - I did not include the JB4 in this list as it is a piggyback, but it is also the best you can get for what it does and is a very solid device on our platform.

Dont go local. Highly recommend reading up on jb4s (n54) threads and or the huge lozic thread, some lap3 threads are good as well. More support and hassle free. Have fun!

EDIT: Got a JB4 on the way. Will be getting it in the mail tomorrow morning. Thanks for the advice!

Do the HKS plugs need to be gapped or do they come gapped correctly already?

Anyone have any idea what the HKS 45iL should be gapped to?
