Have a dealership certify a used car bought somewhere else?

Hey all, Im planning on purchasing a used Stinger in the next couple months and was wondering if it's even a possibility to get a local KIA dealership to certify a used car purchased from somewhere else?

I read from other forums/threads stating they were able to certify their vehicles, but was skeptical whether they got it a manufactured backed certification or a dealer certification.

What's the incentive for another dealer to certify a used vehicle you bought elsewhere?

The Warranty, and that's it. And maybe the dealer could make a little bit of money for certifying the vehicle as i've read from somewhere, it takes about $600 give or take to certify.

While $600 is cheaper for you than buying an aftermarket extended warranty, dealers typically use the certification process to help sweeten the sale of a used vehicle. It just helps marketability of the used car, they could care less about what it does/does not do for the buyer. So long story short - sure, a dealer might but they have very little motivation to do so. Additionally, not certifying means shorter/no warranty period and any future repairs earning them more than Kia pays them to perform the same repairs under warranty. Manufacturers pay prenegotiated fixed rates on warranty repairs, but Joe Jane Citizen pay whatever the dealer says.

It doesn't hurt to ask, just don't get your hopes up.
