Hello everyone.

I just installed bms intakes and ark cat back on the Stinger. I was wondering when these cars start requiring a tune. I would rather just avoid a race chip or anything like that if the stock ecu adapts relatively well on its own. It’s my daily driver so I don’t need some super modified car, but a little extra performance is always nice.

Just off the bat looking at the intercooler, that’s something easy to replace.. stock one looks tiny.

So Intakes, catback and intercooler, would that be ok with no jb4 or tuner?

Thanks.

Probably, but best bang for your buck is gonna be a JB4.

From what I hear as soon as some people put in intakes they have over boost issues which throws your car into limp mode as a safety precaution. A tune fixes over boost issues most of the time depending on what map you’re running. Just remember when you do d
Slap in a tune always change out your spark plugs to prevent miss fires. Best bet are hks performance plugs or denso spark plugs. Just make sure they are gapped properly.

If you want just bolt on mods then it is fine.

I definitely don’t want over boost issues. I checked the stock gauge says I’m right about 14psi; wish the gauges were better I’m guessing here. and the car doesn’t feel like it’s pulling timing or anything. Actually the car feels the same as stock maybe slightly faster.

An intercooler should lower the boost from my experience but I don’t know anything about this platform. Thanks for advice.

You can add a tune at any time, the only time it is required is when you are using high flow or catless primary downpipes such as in the Ultimate Performance Downpipe Combo Kit (click HERE). For just about every bolt on part you will be totally fine without any sort of tuning required.

Would I need an exhaust with this? I have an ecu tune, intakes and spark plugs

i would take off the secondary cats and put in some highflow or catless secondary downpipes
The rest of exhaust is preference.

For those mods, you should be fine without a tune.
