Australia-Specific Kia Stinger Discussion

Hey Guy,

A new upcoming stinger GT owner here.

I've recently made a deal with the dealer for a ceramic grey and red leather interior 2021 model GT V6TT.

They quoted me $72k for the Trim and no extra (except the Mats and full fuel tanks).

Now I did some shopping around with lot of dealers in Melbourne of course but I believe the chip shortage have really shoot up the prices of all the cars (not only Kia but every other brand in general)

I can get the sticker price but then the wait is till this year End or early next year (which for God sake is still not confirmed by Kia or dealer)

Now I don't mind spending that kind of money but when the sale of contract came, the dealer is saying it will go in as a "Demo Car" even though it will be no demo KM and it's directly coming from Kia and will be delivered to me.

I find it a bit strange , any advise why they doing this ?
The current price on the Kia Australia web site is $67690 for your choice of Ceramic Grey. Although the conditions say it must be ordered and delivered in June this is a rolling monthly offer. The most a dealer can charge for an ordered standard car is the price advertised by the manufacturer. Therefore the most you should pay is $67690. Anyone that tells you you will get a car earlier if you pay more is feeding you b/s unless they are selling you a demo car which they have available immediately.

If we order through this, the delivery date is this year end or early next year unfortunately.

Checked lots of dealers and only the one in Southland could gave me a delivery schedule within 1 month but said as the option that I wanted was only 1 of the 3 coming in whole Australia this year so it's highly unlikely I'll get the color this year if I could get it at all .

And for that combo, he is asking for premium or giving me an option to go for some other color .

The thing is I don't mind paying something extra for the color I want, but I'm confused with this Demo thing even though the car is new and not arrived yet , why are they selling it as a Demo contract car even though he confirmed me there would not be any KM and it a new car delivered to the dealer and then given to me .

Ordering through the Kia web site just refers you to your local dealer, although it does lock in the standard price.

I got fed similar BS that you are getting from the same dealership you mentioned. Have a look at what they are advertising their demo Stingers for - they are cashing in on buyers lack of patience. I can wait so I placed my order in May through another dealership (not owned by this same group) who were more transparent (although only time will tell). I will be surprised if my car is delivery this year - one benefit is it should be an MY22 car when it arrives.

Welcome to the forum. I wouldn’t be paying that much personally. Lots of good advice given though by other forum members. I would try the broker to get a better deal.

Yep, I would have preferred to have red interior but that option not available with the red exterior
Red exterior and red interior would have been my choice too. In the end I really wanted the red interior so chose Silky Silver and I’m extremely happy with how the car looks.

Dealers are allowed to register and sell a certain number of demonstrator vehicles each year and receive a cash rebate from the manufacturer/importer for each one. Often they don’t actually need to register that many demonstrators for customers to test drive, so they will want to “use up” all the rebates to which they are entitled so will sell some brand new, undriven cars as “demonstrators”. Simply put, they will make more profit from your sale.

Be wary of buying it as a “demonstrator” as if it is written off in an accident in the first few years you own it, you may not be entitled to receive new-car-replacement in your insurance policy.

If you still want to go through with the purchase, make sure you have a clause in the contract saying the car will be undriven and delivered with less than 100km on the odometer.

I have purchased two cars in the past as undriven “demonstrators” but they were only $25k.

Personally, I would walk away - too much risk for a $70k car.

Hi All,
I am wondering if any body has experienced their 10 1/2 inch screen on the 2021 Stinger GT completely dead when starting up the car.
On at least 10 occasions this has happened to me and the only way to get it working again is turn off the car completely and wait at least 10 minutes.
Anyone know of a work around?
Thanks all

I am wondering if this forum is still active as I have become aware of a serious problem with the brakes

Brake shudder I'm guessing

After a short drive and the brakes warmed up, when braking just normal to soft I feel a distinct wobbling vibration through the steering wheel and faint sound of it. Only done just over 8000klms & 11months old. Never raced or sudden harsh braking . became faintly apparent about a month ago & getting worse.

It’s a well known issue, it’s the pads, put it simply they are crap, pad material builds up on the rotors.
Do a couple of high speed braking manoeuvres & it should clear it, oh & do it safely.
In the end most have replaced the pads with aftermarket ones & this resolves the issue.
