While in traffic this past Sunday, a rock flew up and hit my car and I cringed as we all do. It specifically hit towards, the lower left corner as you're looking over the steering wheel. When I got home, I took a closer look and there was a nice little chip in the glass. Yesterday that little chip run out to about 18 inches, I dropped by the insurance agent's office (State Farm) and they immediately called their windshield service and it's being replaced on Monday. I have HUDS. Has anyone run into issues with windshield replacement especially when it comes to HUDS and sensors? If it weren't raining, I'd step out and snap a picture.

Silly question but wouldn't they need to replace the sensors as well if they're going with the OEM windshield? Did you ask them that? Sorry to hear about the bad luck btw! Hopefully this doesn't run up your premiums or anything.

HUD only works on an OEM replacement windshield unless you have the luck to randomly get an aftermarket one that happens to work (I've read of several bad experiences that way and none with an OEM replacement).

I called the service today after I did some research last night. The new shield is going to be coming from the dealer. @WRXtoStingerGT There was no discussion with the insurance agent on fees. I think this is one of those added features on the policy that rarely gets claimed.

I've been waiting 2 weeks for a new OEM replacement windshield for my GT2 with HUD. The glass company I'm working with says the Kia dealer told them it would be in Monday this week. Here it is, now Friday, two weeks later and still no windshield.

I was told that you have to have OEM glass, otherwise if you have any issues with your HUD, sensors, etc. Kia will not working on it with non-OEM aftermarket glass.

If you live in Jacksonville as your handle would imply, FL has a no-deductible law on windshields. As long as you have insurance it's covered 100%. not sure if it's on the comp or the collision, but you probably have both anyway.

It took Kia over 2 months to get the right pads and rotors to replace my rear ones... I wouldn't hold your breath thinking they will honor their quoted time. :coffee:

Yeesh, that stinks.

Got good news, auto glass company called me and said they have received the new windshield and moldings, so have an appointment on Tuesday to have it all installed.

That's fantastic! :)

Hopefully everything goes smoothly! :D

New Windshield installed today. Tech said the windshield service would call and schedule a calibration which they did. HUD seems good. Total was $1262 - covered by insurance.

Nice, finally get mine installed tomorrow.

So you had the glass company install the windshield, then they sent another person to calibrate? Wonder why they didn't just do both at same time.

The tech did not have room in his van for the cal gear. He was making multiple stops doing installs. Family run business (Tech's Father-In_law is the boss). All in all I am pleased thus far.

Well, no new windshield for me today. The glass company was told by the dealership last week that they received the new OEM windshield and moldings. Today the glass company calls me to tell me that the dealer did not have the moldings like they said they did. So now we are waiting on those to arrive at the dealer as well so my windshield can finally be replaced. What a nightmare this has been.

Sorry to hear that. Did they give you a time frame? I'm supposed to have the calibration done on mine tomorrow.

Unfortunately not, the glass company representative says they call the dealer everyday asking for an update but the dealer tells them they are unable to provide a date for when they will receive the parts ordered. The dealer was supposed to have all required parts (windshield and molding) last Monday (Aug 23rd).

sorry about your windshield. i had mine replaced twice with non oem glass. the hud required readjusting the height but otherwise, everything works fine. Except certain bright lights have a ghosting effect but I can live with that. there was a glass shortage where I am and the insurance didn't want to pay for oem so I got aftermarket.

Fingers crossed this is the one and only time I ever have to get it replaced. Did you use Safelite for your non-OEM replacements? I'm using a local company. My first time not going through Safelite.
