Recently purchased the Morimoto HID kit for my '18 2.0 Stinger. Everything is labeled perfectly from Morimoto. My only problem is where in the fuse panel under the hood do i connect the positive and negative battery connections from the Morimoto harness? The underside of the fuse panel cover has a giant + sign shown but it doesn't correspond to the terminal that has the red paint on it? Anyone have any experience with this? I appreciate any responses.

EDIT: So I figured out the positive connection. I connected the negative to a bolt near the frame. turned on the car and got the check headlights warning on the dash. Does this mean I need the CANBUS device to connect as well. I thought I saw another post that said it wasn't needed.

On my base 2.0T as well as my friend's, we installed some LED bulbs from Amazon and did not need error cancel modules (aka CANBUS devices). In fact, installing a module prevented the bulbs from igniting. No error messages after months of driving for either of us. However, prior to that, I was running a generic HID kit with CANBUS modules and that worked as expected--also generic ones from Amazon. Unfortunately, I can't recall if I tried the HID kit without the modules.

Just out of curiosity--I gather that since you were looking for a power connection, I take it you are using a relay harness. Are you using the two-sided one from TRS? Despite the bulb out message, do the bulbs ignite?

By any chance, have you tried leaving one side connected to the input on the relay and leaving a halogen bulb plugged into the other side? Would be interesting to see if you still get the bulb out message, just to narrow down possibilities and hopefully find a solution.

Give me a call tomorrow, 404-220-7940. Ask for Nick and I’ll get a canbus setup to ya.

Thanks for the reply Hummus, I talked with Nick on the next post and with my local Kia dealer's service tech. I will need to purchase the CANBUS unit and ditch the relay harness.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
How did you get this hid kit to work? Did you end up not using the relay harness at all?

Sorry to bump an old thread, but has anyone else recently installed a Morimoto HID conversion kit? Just bought one from K8 Stinger and cannot find an installation guide anywhere. I was sent the one with a CANBUS unit as the relay is not needed for a 35w ballast. Electrical installations are my nemesis...

I'm sure you found this by now but the link to the PDF is on the K8 Stinger Store site: Morimoto Elite Complete HID Conversion Kit - Kia Stinger 2.0T

I am thinking about buying this kit but the installation guide indicates there is quite a bit more involved than just swapping out bulbs. Could anyone offer some general tips or an overview of the process? I am mechanically inclined but typically do not touch electrical systems.
