So I’m sitting at the dealership this morning getting my first maintenance done and I asked the service manager a few questions about warranty. I asked him about cat back and down pipes. He told me that both downpipes and catback will NOT void warranty. He said since it’s all exhaust related it would be fine.

While I’m down for that answer, I’ve also heard stories of downpipes being used to void wattanty also. Does anyone have any input on this topic?

I’d love to get the SSR downpipes when I pick up a catback setup and just have the entire thing redone but not at the risk of voiding warranty on a 50k vehicle.

There are multiple threads discussing warranty coverage and the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act, but heres another good resource.
Auto Warranties & Routine Maintenance

Bottom line, nothing automatically voids your warranty. In the event anything goes wrong with your Stinger it would be Kia’s responsibility to prove the aftermarket part directly caused the problem.

I highly doubt anyone’s warranty was voided due to DPs as it would be very difficult to prove a DP caused engine/transmission damage. I guess anything is possible, but most likely it was just a story about dealers scare tactics...

In all reality, it depends on how nice your local dealership is. If they're a bunch of try-hards that know less about cars than they do how to treat customers like a swath of annoying flies, then just about anything you do can be attributed to voiding the warranty simply because you made 5 more horsepower and more horsepower is more "strain on the components".

If your dealership has some down-to-earth car guys, you'll be fine, though, lol

I was thinking about getting the DP put on my stinger. Is there anything else needed for the sound. I don't want it loud but just a little more sound

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Fwiw....
I've had SSR midpipes on mine since they were first available... Stock exhaust otherwise, sound is perfect, not obnoxious, just enough to let you know it means business ..
