Can someone please help me. I have the BMS performance package. JB4 tuner, bms intakes, denso spark plugs sized to .022. I run 5 gallons of E85 and the rest 93 from only Mobil or Shell. Doesn’t matter the map I run 1-3 about 120mph my car is stuttering so badly it won’t climb after 120-122 then the tuner is automatically putting itself back to map 0. Is this a spark plug issue? Intake and fuel issue? I did splice into my fuel line with the tuner. I can’t figure out the issue and it’s getting very frustrating. $1100 and I’m running stock to perform normall. No issues on map 0. Something obviously to do with tuner. Anyone else have these problems? And ideas? Thanks

I would guess thats too much E85 when it gets up there under high load and rpm. You tried just straight 93 on map 2?

If you're not testing your gas and you dont have the kit to have the JB4 do it for you, youre likely not running the mix you think you are.

You need the fuel wires to allow for a better A/F ratio. I had the same issue and would start to cut out at the top end of 3rd into 4th.

Fuel wires will solve your issue.

He said fuel line. I think he meant to say that he put the fuel wires in. Since the JB4 comes with them preinstalled now. I doubt they meant a flex fuel sensor.

No I have not tried straight 93 yet. Thank you guys for your input I really appreciate that. I was under the assumption that one of the two black wires that come off the JB4 tuner was to splice into the fuel harness which I did. So that is not effective for running E85? I need to buy the after market fuel harness? I thought in order to run map 3 & 4 you had to run E85 or racing fuel? I will have to buy a tester too then. My app says it’s staying around 30 E85 mix but who knows how accurate that is.

Are you a 2.0 or 3.3? Assuming 3.3...Those black wires coming out of the JB4 are the fuel wires and one needs to be connected to the drivers side AFR (O2) sensor and the other to the passenger side. That will cause a HUGE problem if you don't have them both hooked up. Also unless you have a flex-fuel sensor wired in there is NO way that the car/app can tell you what % of ethanol you are running.
It does say to run E30 (Not straight E85) on map 3 and 4 that's why I say try just 93 on map 2. Even if you do have the correct mix of E if the fuel wires aren't hooked up right you'll have issues.

Like @EClapp3 said, use straight 93 and try that. I thought my issue was plugs but turns out it needed a better A/F ration which the fuel wires solved.

I run 93 octane with a bottle of Boostane and calculated the octane to be around 102 which I'm sure helps. She feels alive now for sure. Hoping to get to the track and see if I can, dare I say it?????, run low low low 12s.

I am 3.3 and I watched a video that told me the short wire for the driver side didn’t need to be connected lol awesome that video was on the website of burger motor sports which I bought it from giving incorrect info. Thank you guys again for all your advise and help. I will get that 2nd wire hooked up as soon as I get home from my work trip. I’m a little embarrassed now lol but I didn’t know so thank you both again for all your help. I was getting so frustrated. I have half a tank left once empty I will fill 93 only. Map 2. I was looking at the boostane. Amazon has 6 bottles for $169 I’ll have to try that once I get this all figured out. I’m actually getting ready for a track day In august, can’t wait! So last question, should I buy any aftermarket anything? Wires or harness or something? or are the JB4 wires good enough? Sorry my responses are delayed I fly for a living so in the air a lot. Thanks again in advance you guys are awesome

I agree with @EClapp3 Fuel-It sensor would be ideal.

You're all good on the slow replies, I work in a building with no phone lines so I 100% feel you lol. Could you post a link to the video you are talking about? I don't remember seeing anything like that in my research. Also the short fuel wire goes to the passenger side AFR sensor and the long one goes to the drivers side. The short one wont reach the drivers side. You don't need to buy any wires or anything, everything provided in the kit is enough (I got the same kit). Also don't be embarrassed, we all learn somewhere, we're here to help.

You can just fill back up with 93 only, that will dilute the E85 to 2.5gal/tank, which shouldn't be an issue.

I missed the part about you only having one fuel wire installed, that's probably your problem, LOL (although I still think 5gal E85 is a bit much).
I'd be interested to see this video too. Maybe they were talking about the 2.0 (4 cyl), since it only needs one fuel wire.

So i will look for the video It was on bms website but the dude had a Hyundai but it was supposed to be same motor but maybe I miss understood but he definitely only used one black wire not both but I of course put the long wire on the passenger side cause I put the tuner on drivers side. Wanted the BT closer to my phone. So I will get that wire to the passenger side and get both hooked up. Plus good thinking just dilute what I have with 93. The 5 gal E85 was again advise I read from Terry Burger on BMS forum. So once I get home this weekend I will make the changes and give you guys an update. I again am so great full for all the advise and information. I’m a newbie to all this. Used to have a motorcycle not a sports car and and all the tuner stuff so I’m learning as I go. Lol thanks again have a great weekend and I will update you guys as soon As I can

If it was a hyundai that vid had to be of a 2.0. Put the JB4 box on the passengers side on the jump point location plastic thing. Its on the passenger side, plastic and has a + on it. The bluetooth will be fine connecting and the fuel wires will be the correct length.

Ok so you know. Now I can’t wait to get home And fix it and take it for a spin. I’m like a giddy kid on Xmas right now. Plus I have to race a pilot who has a stock SRT Durango he’s saying he smoked me with my tuner problems which he didn’t. It was still close with my problems lol

I’m sure you will be happy with the improved performance. Good driving!

KIA told me to avoid the JB4 like the plague--and others like it. I asked about it after I put my exhaust mod and they showed me the warranty work they had to do on destroyed plugs on someone that used a JB4--they covered it--but sent a memo on it to the dealer. the bill was like 700 dollars in repair of what the JB$ did--you can also prob kiss the warranty goodbye.
