Hey gentleman,Looked through threads here and I'm debating my first mod for my new stinger. CAI. I'm leaning towards Injen, but also like the K+N, I'm aware they probably all produce similar results, little better throttle response few horses etc. Just wondering if the Injen is worth the extra price compared to the K+N?? I notice it doesn't have any barrier between the I takes and the motor.. just looking for real world experience with either brand... Any info helpful

Personally I think the K&N or AEM is the way to go over the Injen. The Injen does look cooler but has no heat shields at all which always baffled me.

That's what I was curious about, they also claim the biggest hp gains.. but no barrier at all

It's pretty easy for manufactures to skew dyno results so I would take advertised numbers with a grain of salt.

The best value intakes in my opinion are the K&N, AEM and the BMS. Also a lot of guys swear by upgrading to velossatech air ducts and upgrading the oem style filters to K&N if you want a factory look without the sound of an aftermarket intake. The ones to stay away from are the Agency Power and the Stillen, they both have huge fitment issues and even issues with filters that repeatedly fall off no matter how hard you tighten the clamps.

If you do a search on the forum you'll find tons of discussion on intakes. The only one you might not find discussion on is a new addition from a company called Forge, they just released a new intake but its pretty expensive since its just 2 big heat shields and 2 filters, it would probably be the easiest to install though since it uses all the factory tubing.

I'm definitely going for the sound as well. Thanks for the help, Injen looks great but $150 more than k+n seems excessive

I wanted to stay as close to stock as possible so I just replaced the stock snorkel with the Velossa Tech Gen 4 Glow in the dark Big Mouth snorkels. I also swapped the factory air filters for the AEM ones. I have no other performance modifications except for the JB4 on the default map 2. No meth, no Ethanol, no Octane boosters. Stock exhaust and stock intake box.

I ran 12.12@116+ mph with this setup this past weekend with my 2019 RWD GT2. I also did a 4.06 0-60 mph using the factory launch control.

The snorkels really can help. However, heat soak can make the air intake system irrelevant. If your turbos are hot and your car isn’t moving your intercooler is going to get very hot as well. Only a better intercooler and/or meth are really going to fix that.

Awesome looking car man . I looked at the snorkels too, seems the only way to install is pulling the front bumper off? I'm pretty handy, how hard is it?

Might be a dumb question, but is it possible to use the JA air scoops with the K+N CAI? Also can't get the install directions for those?

Travis, was Launch control used for that 0-60 run as well as the quarter mile times?

The built in stock launch control was used for the 0-60 mph time. However, auto hold mash the gas from a dig was used for the 1/4 mile best time. I am still debating which one is better especially when traction is good.

Ironically my best 0-60 mph time did not have my best 60 foot time.

It is super easy to pull the front bumper off. It takes like 5 minutes for me to do it now. I took it off 5 times last week for different adjustments I was trying out.

There are lots of great videos on YouTube that show you exactly how to do it.

Someone should attach a conical filter to the INSIDE of the stock airbox and dremel a hole in the bottom of the airbox. Might not get all the whooosh noises but you'll increase the amount of un-superheated air getting to the intake and keep the filter isolated from the engine's heat.

cool, thanks. I'm down in Southern Pines. having a hell of a time with traction. got a Dragy last week and I'm trying to establish some baselines for map two before, I install water/meth. I'm RWD as well. I think I'll just do the quarter and the 0-60 with launch control just so I can hopefully repeat it with the meth. Warmer temps will help. According to the JB4 timer, I've done a 0-60 in 4.03, but not Dragy certified and I don't know the exact slope of course..

OP, sorry to hijack your thread.

Come to Rockingham this Saturday and you will see what it can do with real traction. A few of the other local Stingers will be there. Should be a ton of fun.

Believe it or not but the K&N drop in panel filter is not that much more restrictive than the K&N filter used in their aftermarket Typhoon intake system. I don't think people realize how good the stock airbox is once you put in a free flowing filter and remove the stock snorkel restriction.

Dang. Gotta do this soon. Probably can’t this Saturday unfortunately. Will probably be after meth is installed before I get there.

Both are good but I like the looks, filter, and engine placement of the Injne more.

I would be glad to help you out with a discount on the Injen Intakes if you would like to order one.

Just shoot me a message and I can start to put something together for you.

Is there a backorder on the red Injen still?
