Lap3 ECU tune

Don't abuse the car and you won't break anything. Get a built transmission if you're scared lol These are serious modifications so user error is just that, user error lol

I hear ya, would it be possible to opt for the Stage 1 6psi but get the benefit of the better shifts from the Stage 2. My car is RWD and not interested in too much boost off the line.

Lol you sound like me. Short answer is no. I asked the same thing. I am told that boost builds so you can watch your boost Guage as boost builds so you can launch at any time, you're not limited to only 6 or only 14. It takes a few seconds for the full 14 to build so you can let off at any psi

How does a spare ECU swap compare with something like JB4 as far as swapping it out for visits to the dealership and warranty?

Ecu swap is really easy, disconnect battery, pull tabs up on ecu, undo four bolts on bracket, take ecu harness off.

But performance and drivability is far superior as well as options (speed limiter completely bypassed, pops and crackles. 6psi launch). Any further questions go to the lap3 USA website and discord page.

It doesn't, because even when removed the transmission computer, stability control modules, and others have recorded true higher than factory torque levels. Swapping the ECU also leaves a trace in the dash module as it re-syncs vehicle mileage between the two.

If you're buying another ECU in hopes it will help with warranty you're wasting your money. The spare ECU is just an easy way to change tuning maps as at home OBDII flash tools have not been released yet for the platform.

Fake news looser we already check and tested that shit get lost

Not sure why you need to bash Terry or anybody else here.
Have some respect and move on,
Respect ? He’s on a forum spreading misinformation. If you can’t accept that I’m sorry but enough is enough. I’m not on his page talking about things his jb4 can and can’t do because I respect that but it goes bolth ways. I’m not going to move on. Respect is earned not blindly given. Thankyou and I’m sorry if I come off as rune but me and many others are not going to stand for it.

After trying other options and having nothing but issues I went lap3 and have never regretted it since now I am on the Ecu and the car runs amazing best thing I have done for my car period.

No such option exists
I’m unsure what you mean by this builder 89 but Stratford it’s straight forward You just save your ecu put it in a cabinet or somthing and if you have a dealer visit coming up just put factory back in it’s simple as that no crazy wires or anything it looks like this EBEE4A77-3144-453D-8A96-CB49B218EFD9.webp

Another option is great. But this is quite a bit pricey. A stage 2 setup with launch control is $2550. Kia's parts are not supposed to be taxed like that, lol.

spare oem ecu is 1200$ new you get a discount by half on that and there’s 1000s of hrs of work in the tune fine tuning it. I understand your frustration but a motech is 5k + finding another tuner to tune it for 1200 ish $$. This is not because it’s a Kia it’s because of what real tuning costs.

Trust me I have been in the modding game for a long long time. Many 1000+ horsepower cars in my past stable. I know the r&d costs and so forth. The Stinger is a $40k car, not a $100k BMW type. If the tuning option was priced more in line of the Stinger crowd, they would sell way more tunes. But at the current cost, good luck recouping whatever r&d costs.

Well if you go cheap in most cases you get cheap how much are the other Stage 2+ tunes on the market if I remember this is still cheaper than others

Tork stage 2 with Ecu and tuning this is with all there options not saying it’s a bad product just showing price comparison

You're entitled to your own opinion but not your own facts. All automotive manufacturers use the same basic techniques to detect flash tuning because they all buy their electronics from the same automotive electronics manufacturers. Flash tunes are easily detected after the fact even if flashed to factory and EVEN if you swap the ECU. In this case not only can they detect the ECU itself has been swapped but you'd have to change the computers for the trans, stability control, dash, at a minimum, to try to escape detection. Good luck with that.

There are lots of great reasons to flash your car but doing so makes it impossible to avoid detection later if that is something you're trying to do.

As for the prices flash tuners are trying to get, IMHO, totally ridiculous. For BMWs we publish free unlocked maps for use with the JB4. The flashing tools (MHD for example) charge a $79-$249 fee per VIN for loading maps based on the value of the car. So to flash a $100k M5 is around $249 for the license then whatever you spend on the map. Even custom tuners only charge around $300 per map to make maps specifically for you. But everyone has to make a living and if people are willing to pay their price for disposable flash maps, more power to them. :)

So wouldn’t it be the same with a piggy back then ?

So wouldn’t it be the same with a piggy back then ?

Nope. For better or worse, with a good piggyback in place, the ECU and other modules on the vehicle are never aware they are making more than the factory boost, torque, and load values. So nothing higher than factory is ever stored.
