Does anyone have regrets on a GT rather than a GT1

I thought about the lease and I am still thinking about it but I am entirely not sure yet. So let me ask you this and anyone else in this forum if this is a good deal or should I keep haggling for lower. 2019 GT2 RWD 12k miles on it and the dealer is offering me a out the door price of $41,804.24.
The original owner probably paid that amount before taxes when they bought it. The used prices for these cars and even the brand new prices are increasing every day.

My local dealer had 26 Stingers on the lot last year. I went by and counted them all. I went by the other day and they had 3 and they were all GT-Line cars.

Your best bet now is to find a brand new one the dealer is willing to negotiate on. If you bought that car and tried to flip it the dealers would probably only give you $34k to perhaps $37k if it is an online dealer.

I do love my 2020 GT1, but would love to have three options that the GT2 has, and those would be the HUD, Power Trunk and the 360 Camera(had that with my 2016 Optima SX-L.)

I went with the GT due to not caring about a moonroof, larger screen, all the safety aids and adaptive suspension.
In my eyes:

GT=Builders car: All the engine and transmission you need but a blank slate otherwise to add to.
GT1=Drivers car: Most common-pool luxury convenience features without the extra highline gear you'll find in the german cars
GT2="poor mans panamera" Yep. Its basically Porsche Panamera without Porsche trim but most of the same stuff as a base Panamera.

IIRC this topic's in another thread, but good to discuss again as options change btw the trims. Back in 2018, the GT was a great way to go, however, now Kia removed adaptive cruise control as an option thereby forcing you up in trims if you want that feature. That feature was bundled with the emergency brake capability which I wanted so I got that on the GT as I didn't see the point in paying thousands of dollars more for a sunroof, cooled seats, or a hatch that opens itself. It's all up to personal preference on how many features you want/need and what you're willing to spend. For me, I love the core of the car (engine, drivetrain, shape, hatchback practicality, rear legroom), don't need all the ancillary features - though some are nice, it's also more to break on a car.

PS - the wife's required features were heated seats/steering wheel which did come on the GT...

The only reason why I am saying regrets cause I am coming from a 09 Corolla. Which is nothing to brag about it just got me from point A to point B. The used market for the stinger is almost no existent out here. I was looking for a 2020 but none. However I did come across a 2019 GT 2 RWD with only 12k miles. But I am struggling what would be a good offer for that

I just got home from the dealer and traded a 18 gt2 awd with 21000 miles for about 32,600. A 19 RWD around here would go for maybe 37-38k. Traded for a gt to reduce payments. Not sure if I regret it or not yet.

For the price I want a GT1 it is looking unlikely I am able to get them down to 40 including tax. So my next question is does anyone that own a GT regret not spending the extra few for a GT1?

I just bought a brand new 2021 GT Line in Ceramic Silver one week ago for $28,495 plus TT&L. The identical GT1 was $34,995 plus TT&L. Does the GT1 look better and is it faster with more bells and whistles? Of course, but I'm plenty happy with my purchase.

The GT Line sound system and headlights are just okay but both can be upgraded if I choose. Same for the wheels and brakes. What I did end up with is a REALLY nice looking car that drives way better than I expected for what it is. Prior to choosing the Stinger, I test drove a 2019 Genesis G70 and this one just feels better. Hell, I've already gotten compliments from strangers! And the maintenance costs will be lower on the non-Brembo, non-staggered tires car.

Why else did I go GT Line? I just didn't want to part with the extra $6,500+ and, for now, I bought warranty. It's a cool car but it's not a forever car so, when the warranty is up (I pound the miles out living in Houston, TX) I will either start modding it or get something else entirely (using the $6,500 I didn't spend now).

I came from a 2013 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring that I'd owned since new. Pedestrian yes but I also have over 140 SCCA starts including 9-10 Pirelli World Challenge pro races so, I am familiar with going fast. Let me tell you what I'm not missing yet...my sunroof. For me, it's either convertible or hardtop. I've had plenty of moonroofs and they just don't do it for me.

I'm not discounting what the GT1 and GT2 owners are saying but it came down to budget for me. While you may long for more with a GT, I don't think you'll be unhappy at all. Either way, I hope you find something.

Wow! Those are insane prices. That quote on the GT1 is basically base GT-Line's MSRP. Congrats!

Love my GT. No regrets at all.

Where did you buy from if I may ask?

OP, get on a plane and buy your car in Texas! Enjoy the drive home.

I don't "regret" getting the GT. Sometimes I do think about a few features the GT1 has that I'd like to have. But its hard to miss something you never had. My previous car was a 2001 chevy blazer, so the stinger was a huge step up in features and tech, even if it was only the GT. For the money I saved not getting a GT1 and even more so a GT2, I'm happy with the GT.

Got my AWD GT with dealer tinting for $39,500 + tax. Not a steal but discounted enough. The GT1 was $5000-ish more.

The size of the infotainment screen is irrelevant, I can see google maps fine when using Android auto and rarely need the screen the rest of the time.

Vented (cooled) front seats would have been nice for the summer, but obviously wasn't a deal breaker.

The stock GT suspension is a good compromise of road manners and sportiness, and the test GT1 I drove didn't seem that far off in comfort mode compared to the stock GT setup.

The HK system is probably less harsh at higher volume than the stock 9 speaker, but again for the extra cost I can either swap the front door tweeters or just live with it (I've mostly EQ'ed out the harshness... +4 bass, -5 mid, -2 treble if anyone's curious what a home recording engineer sets their 9 speaker Stinger car stereo to ;) ).

The frontal collision tech in our CX-5 Mazda sucks, it slams on the brakes at times when doing merges/getting into tight traffic. I realize it's not the same system, but they all have to meet certain criteria for functionality. Having radar/adaptive cruise can be annoying too when used in only moderately spaced traffic and if travelling long/less congested trips regular cruise is fine since there's no reason to 'adapt'. For someone (like Doug Demuro) who lives in a heavily congested area and wants the adaptive cruise for stop and go bumper to bumper, then the GT1 or GT2 is probably a good idea.

So, my pocket doesn't regret "settling" for the GT. It's got a nice set of amenities for the price point.

Las Vegas dealers had a decent selection when I bought mine last month, might be worth the drive from CA? I bought mine at Findlay on Sahara and they were serious about putting me in a car/didn't waste my time.

Same here......i have a 2018 2.0 and have a thread out there about whether to upgrade to 3.3 or stay with 2.0....I came from 2010 Sentra so making the call on 2.0 or /3.3 GT/GT1/GT2 was not a big call. Here in Wildcat country (KY), i just saw (3) GT's(AWD) @$40K and GT1(AWD) @ $42K before negotiations. If i were choosing between the 3.3 models, i would go with base GT to use as "blank canvas" for upgrades. If you are not interested in any of that, get the most you can afford so you won't have the regrets down the road.....sorry forum, but my upgrade from my 2.0 will be Supra and not the 2.0.....I get to finish enjoying my Stinger while my pennies build up.....lol. Stinger is awesome no matter what level you get.

I appreciate all you that have responded and made my decision so much easier. After reading and evaluating what I really need. I do not need a sunroof, memory seats because I will be the only one primarily driving the car. The inch bigger screen is not necessary. If I really dislike the stock speakers after awhile then I will just install aftermarket speakers.

I decided on the GT 3.3L and the out the door price is at 39K and that is taxes already included in that price. The taxes in California just pains me. I will be picking it up tomorrow morning. Excited to be apart of the Stinger community. Still sad the Corolla died on me but ready for the change.

I went with a base model 2020 GT RWD because it was the cheapest way to get the 3.3L-V6 and was the lightest with the fewest tech-gizmos to go wrong. I was coming from two previous cars that had no back up camera, no navigation, no blind spot beeps, etc... I like how it's light and simple and yet ten times more luxurious than my previous cars and has all the tech I could ever want. Would it be nice to have a sunroof or a 360 camera or a built-in navigation system or upgraded sound system? Sure! Of course! But... the sound system in my car is significantly better than my two previous rides and I am still using the same 15 year old Garmin GPS that I bought used when I bought my first car at 18 lmfao!!

After constant thinking I was thinking just like you. Sunroof is not necessary cause I never had one, along with back up camera and etc. The navigation was not even a consideration just because there is Apple CarPlay and android auto and so navigation is already there. Honestly the stock system is not bad but I could easily just upgraded the stock with a aftermarket setup but that can wait.

I hear you on that, more stuff = more stuff that can go wrong.
yup! plus it saves a lot of money and I'm not ashamed to admit that at all haha!

I feel you! Ironically my old e36 had a sunroof but it caused so many problems and I ironically only used it maybe five times the three years I owned the vehicle... granted I bought it used but still...
