• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

2019 Map Update now available online

I'm waiting for ANY update that will improve the kindergarten drawings that are used for my maps. I hate looking at it.

I don't care about the look of the map as long as I don't have to tunnel under Parramatta Rd any more when I drive through WestConnex. Or maybe it thinks I'm flying?

At this rate the 2020 update may become the 2021 one.
Do you suppose the update will actually contain any significant changes or just maps. If it is just the maps I don't see why it is taking so long.

My dealer will be updating mine next Tuesday, if that happens I will post the update version.

Was in the dealership yesterday and they said the update still wasn't available.
Hope it is there next week but wouldn't be holding my breath.

I know, my dealer says it is, there will be hell to pay if they waste my time.

So much for 10 years free maps when they can't even give us updates every year.
I’ve already said that to them, they just blame the map company who supplies them.

After a lot of conflicting information re: map updates I just rang my dealer to confirm if my booking for map update will actually happen tomorrow as I would not be a happy camper taking half a day off work & sitting there for a couple of hours only to be told no update is available.
They actually went down & spoke to the Tech guys & now I have been told to book it in January 2021, what a joke, last update was June 2019, this is by far the worst feature in this car by a country mile, yes sure they offer free map updates but I’ve owned the car 3 years & I’ve had 2 updates & this system still cannot find an actual address.

That’s pretty ordinary. Glad I do my updates at home. The slowest part is downloading the file, no time off work or sitting around a dealership. My service department have never even mentioned it to me come to think of it

Yes they never mention it because it’s free.
My wife’s Cerato was serviced a couple of weeks ago & funnily enough on the paperwork at pick up it stated Map Update available $330 we never even asked, LMAO of course it’s available for a lower spec car at that price & that map system is more user friendly than what’s in the Stinger.

I noticed that now when I come to an intersection with things like -
left lane can only make left u-turns
2nd lane from left can turn only turn left
3rd lane from left can turn left or go straight
4th lane from left can only go straight
5th lane from left can go straight or turn right
6th lane from left can only make right turn

In the lower left corner of the map screen, the display shows what each lane can do. This didn't used to be there. I didn't see it right after the last update? But maybe it came in on the last update and I just missed it? Or perhaps the dealer updated something when I had the last oil change? Did this suddenly appear for anyone else?

That's disappointing. My Stinger is booked in on 6th January so we'll see.

I am secretly hoping the delay is because the new firmware update adds the blind spot camera view to the cluster like the MY21

Think it may need a little hardware too for that

I'm not so sure - but with a little bit of information I'm wildly guessing :D

Seeing the surround-view camera module pinout in the 2019 service manual has video outputs for each camera signal.

But the infotainment unit from my understanding only has a single video input (the Y/C AVM pins) and Infotainment provides feedback to this module for selecting/generating the camera display screens. (according to diagram in the Infotainment/audio section)

Not sure where the other end of those pins end up yet!
