Alright guys/gals, here’s the scope.
Got this car from a personal dealer who hunted down one for me. Hella modded out already, and I’m learning new stuff about it every other day.
2018 Kia Stinger GT2 (29k miles)
FULL BOLT ONS
Injen intake
Custom piping to fit tial BOV
LAP3 Tune 91 oct
Catless exhaust into Borla mufflers
WMI kit 50/50 (currently not spraying)
Custom built Oil Catch
Anyways, took it to the local Kia to get an oil change about 3 weeks ago. Since then, I noticed a bit off smoke when pushing moderate boost. Thought it was black in color, so I went about my business. About a week later, someone messaged me and said that when I pulled on the highway, it was a dumb amount of BLUE smoke that came out...
I have been stressed ever since.
I pulled the oil catch can out (no oil observed), and cleaned the hoses and filter. Checked the PCV on the back-left of the motor(looking at the motor), and it was functional.
reset the ECU, reset the tune, unhooked the WMI, and it still smoked on boost.
I took it on a test drive with someone following me to better diagnose WHEN it started and stopped. Long story short, it over boosted in comfort mode and shit the boost off. THERE WAS NO MORE SMOKE.
Restarted the car, back to smoking. Got it dialed down to smoking under boost.
Now... oil level is fine, hasn’t moved since the change. I’m hearing rumors that the catless primary/secondary are causing this.. OR, oil viscosity isn’t right.. OR PCV system isn’t right.. OR my motor/turbos are fried. etc. etc.
I’m curious to know facts and resolutions. The car is with a mechanic right now for compression and leak down test to rule out piston rings.
Any takers wanna shoot their shot at this?
