I made a very big oopsie today and managed to get a hole in my transmission pan. I had my car up on ramps and had a jack stand under the cross brace for the downpipes just in case. Well when I backed the car down a little bit off the ramps I heard a little movement under the car so I quickly got it back up on the ramp and got the stand out. Transmission fluid everywhere. I guess part of the jack stand tipped backwards and managed to puncture the pan. I looked up an oem replacement and it's only 170-200 dollars. It doesn't look like that bad of a job but my confidence is pretty shaken at this point. How much do you think I'll be spending at the dealership to get it done all together? 400—500?

Think it would be more than 4-500 at dealership.
Cost of transmission fluid
May also require replacement gasket as well.
So that prob 250 to 300 for parts and fluid
Then I'm guessing they will charge 2 hours for labor at least even tho will take 1 hr
600-700 is my guess

Think there's any chance I hurt anything in the transmission itself? At most it looks like the jack stand went in a half an inch, thats my main worry at this point.

Prob ok
But will need to remove pan to confirm
Hopefully jack stand only punctured area holding fliuid

If you have access to pan and all bolts etc
And decide diy
Scrap off any mating surfaces before putting in the gasket and pan
Leftover gasket or gunk on there can cause leak even if using new gasket
When tightening bolts do in star pattern gradually
I.e. don't tighten bolt 1 to full spec
Then do opposite like that etc

Instead tighten bolt 1 a bit, then do opposite a bit etc until all to spec

Honestly, hearing this, you shouldn't be working on the car.

I thought Canadians were suppose to be nice. Nah man, mistakes happen. Silly to have the jack stand there and even more silly to forget about it. Mistakes happen, I'm still happy with my time under the car. At the end of the day the only time you really screwed up is when money can't fix your problem.

The only complicated thing will be refilling the trans fluid. Like most current cars, this uses a weep tube and a fill hole. PITA.
You almost certainly did NOT damage anything else. Maybe the filter, would be a good idea to have one on hand just in case.
Don't sweat it, dumb stuff happens. My cutlass doesn't have a netutral safety start, and I've fired up the engine several times while the front was up on stands and the back was on the ground. It's never come all the way down, but it sure has tried!

Lol yeh I also thought Canadians were polite
Sounds more like brain fart forgetfulness
Maybe excited after replacing the dp couldn't wait to get it off ramps

And I thought Americans believed in law and order and due process. Guess we're both wrong.
