Good All-weather Tires?

Hey guys,

I live in Vancouver and as us west coasters know we have very mild winters. So it doesnt quite justify winter tires.

I have winter tires on my RAV4 and never really get to use them, and infact get caught in temperatures that are 7C+ all the time in winter.

So I am thinking of all-weathers and when the weather is really good I can change back to my Michelin pilot sports!

I plan on getting new rims to fit 225/45R18 tires.

Ive read good things for the Goodyear Assurance Weatherready.
Anyone have these? or recommend any good all weathers?

Also gonna try and find a shop that can skip the TPMS.. sigh its just a light..

For YVR you can also probably use all seasons, but you might find that winter tires are cheaper, and give you more options.... also check ebay and the forums here the sensors can be had for much cheaper than list....

For anybody that's interested the part number for the TPMS valve is 52933 J5000. I found them on Ebay for 26.00 American, with shipping it came out to under 150.00 Canadian for four. My Kia dealer said to buy them because they figure they'll be over 100.00 each if he orders them. Cheers

I’m running Continental Purecontact LS. They’re holding up great so far after about 9,000 miles. They have really high ratings across the board and have a reputation for lasting a long time. I’ll probably pick up another set when the time comes

Check with your dealer in the fall.... they tend to do package deals and at good prices... I got a set of fast wheels, (18's don't remember the model) xice winters (4x 225) with TPMS, for $1500

I run Yokohama Advan Sport A/S tires on my car for the winter. I've used them on a couple of cars and I have always liked them.

Conti extreme contact dws06. Had these on my Audi S4 in lieu of winter tires. Best all season tire that can handle the snow. Don’t believe in their stated mileage.

Continental Extreme Contact DW06 or Michelin Pilot A/S 3+. Both are excellent.

We had a very mild winter so I didn't get much experience with them in snow. But the two times I did drive in the snow, I had no trouble. The DWS06 are probably a little better for the snow. But if your winters are like ours in Pittsburgh, either should work fine.

If you look on CarID, you can choose to see wheels that are guaranteed fit in 18" There are lots of options!

You can look here. There are only a few with 18" wheels but you can sort by wheel size and see them all together.

Late to the party, but have you considered “all weather” tires, as opposed to “all season” tires? These are truly a 4 season tire that comes with the mountain and snowflake symbol, so actually qualify as a winter tire and you can use them on the highways outside of Vancouver in the winter.

Nokian has been making these for several years and I’ve had a couple sets prior to moving to pure winter tires for the snowy months. I believe that WRG4 is the latest version of these tires from Nokian.

The TPMS at a kia dealer is around $221 for all 4. Part #: LP52933J5000KTPMS Kit 4 Pack. Be careful because one Kia dealer tried to charge me $650. I bought Blizzak WS90 225/45R18 with RWC 430 Anthracite rims from my tire guy (Zracing in Mississauga) and he installed the OEM TPMS. Make sure you get the right wheel offset. Go to Wheel-Size.com to see and learn about what wheel and offset is right for your car. Also to see some wheels for your Stinger go to canadawheels.ca. If your using the wheel in the winter make sure you pick the winter approved or the clear coat on the wheels could be affected from salt etc.

For an all season you may want to look at the Michelin pilot sport A/S3+. I had them on my MX5 Mazdaspeed and my Mercedes convertible and they were a nice tire. However I did not use them in the snow since my other cars have snow tires on them. Michelin pilot sport all season 4 would also be nice option for you.

i go on sites like 1010 tires but the only way to see 18" rims is to select the Stinger Base. which i think is the 2L that doesnt have the Brembo brakes. So im not 100% sure it would fit over my brembos or what offsets work. Ill have to do more research

18" rims will fit over the Brembos. I've ran winter tires on 18s for the past 2 winters. Lots of other people have ran 18s in the winter too. There's a few threads in the Wheels & Tires subgroup dealing with this issue.
