If I’m going to pay the money for a stinger GT one or two I want to be able to remotely start it from my iPhone. Now I’m being told that in the United States we can’t do that. Is that true?
I had asked this same question shortly after I purchased mine. I am not 100% positive on all of the possibilities. But I do know that you can get a remote start installed by the dealer. Or you can purchase one after you buy the car. These cost around 400-500 USD. You will not be able to use your phone with this to start the car. You will be able to use the factory key to start the car. There are a few different ways you can incorporate a remote start, none of them as high tech as they should be. I replaced a 2018 Hyundai sonata limited with my 2020 Stinger GT. The sonata had an app that you could start the car with, unlock the doors, and other great features. Kia should have made this possible on their flagship sports car. Hope this helps.
I had a Compustar w/Drone Mobile installed on my car. Can start it from anywhere as long as I have service. Also have my heated/cooled seats and steering wheel set to my auxiliary buttons.

Yes, thanks.
It’s just that I live where it’s very hot during the summers and spring even, it would be nice to be able to start the car with the air conditioner on a few minutes before going out to it.
So what’s the goal of remote start? Warm it up in the winter or cool it down in the summer, no? Just because the motor shuts off when you open the door doesn’t affect that. You just restart it after getting in. Presumably you left the environmental settings where you want when you left that car in the first place. No?
I figured there was something capable of doing this.
I had came across a post where people were talking about using the factory key fob with auto start. So I went out to the car and tried it, and of course it did not auto start. That is when I learned that apparently you could sometimes get the dealer to include it at time of sale. I do not really need a remote start. I had just thought the car came with it once I saw people talking about it. Shortly after I realized they were not that great from reading other post. So I did not look into this any further.
I got the Viper SmartStart with GPS. It's great, I can track my car, it let's me start it or lock/unlock the doors from anywhere through my phone, it sends alerts to me if the alarm goes off or someone drives the car when I've got it on lock down, it even shows me my battery voltage and in car temperature, and it doesn't shut the car off when you open the door. The only thing I don't like is the annoying aftermarket horn they added that beeps when I lock/unlock the car, I'm sure if I asked though they could disable it. Also not exactly cheap, but worth it IMO.

Completely unnecessary wear and tear on the starter, battery and seat motors, plus the annoyance of having to wait for the seat to move back then fwd again when you restart.
I got the Compustar w/ Drone kit installed and here in Florida having remote start is a necessity for me (no garage at the moment).
The kit is awesome with no issues for 6 months. The Drone module allows a phone to used as a remote and give many other cool features like GPS tracking and vehicle statistics. I also wanted the fancy remote with the screen so I got the T12 and love it so much. Start the vehicle locked, use any remote or button to unlock, press brake pedal and go.
I got the kit installed for a great price (employee discount) but the T12 remote was pricey. The Drone 3yr subscription wasn't cheap either but I feel is worth it you daily drive the vehicle. Overall highly recommend the kit!

Remote starting is definitely possible with aftermarket support. We have the K8 Stinger Store Canbus Control Module which offers remote start along with comfort access and a variety of other great features that should have come standard from the factory.
You can view the Canbus Module on our website if you CLICK HERE or by clicking the image below.
recently purchased my Stinger and definitely looking to go with a remote start and drone mobile. seems like the perfect match considering Kia doesn't give us the same experience as they do in other countries via UVO.
