It's quite unbelievable. I got the car last week, and I already want to increase the horsepower. I absolutely love this car and everything about it! Moving from a 2020 Toyota Corolla with 139HP to a 365HP beast is a big difference and I love it! I don't even drive that fast, but just knowing that I can is a great feeling! And of course... Sometimes I like to press the paddle just a bit harder to see how it goes. I love it. How can you not? This car offers by far the cheapest horsepower. In my opinion it has a stunning interior and reminds me of a Benz a lot! It looks beautiful on the outside, has tons of room (I'm 6'0) and is AWD. aaaaannddddd it scores great on safety.

Now to the question

And if there is somewhere else I can post this, please let me know. I want to go from 365HP to 500HP+, if possible of course. However, I don't want to sacrifice anything. I know nothing about cars, so the best way to describe it is in computer terms. If I want a better graphics card, I can't just go and buy a better graphics card and install it. No. I need to buy a few other extra parts to support that graphics card or my computer will melt or not run properly. This is what I want to do with a Stinger. How do I achieve extra 140HP+ but THE SAFEST WAY POSSIBLE. In other words, it won't "destroy" the car in any way because it has all the supporting elements to achieve that much horsepower?

... If that makes sense?

If not possible, not a problem :) I love this car so much as it is!

U can buy a piggyback tune either jb4 or lap3!! I had both and I enjoy the lap3 better. Easy 100whp+ added

Start by reading through the performance sections. There's a LOT of info and just take your time. As for specifics, you'll need to change the intakes, exhaust, and decide which style of tune. Best course is an actual ECU tune, but there's only a few available and only one still actively working on our cars. It's a small market. If your local car guy says he can tune a stinger he's probably lying.

Many members run a piggyback tuner, most use the JB4. How much power increase you can get varies with the supporting mods and fuel quality.

Hey Niko! Thank you so much for such a quick reply.

So I found the following link: hxxps://www.lap3usa.com/product-page/lap3-pro-tuner - I'm assuming this is the one, correct? After looking at it, and reading the bullet points, look at what the first bullet point says "Boost Mapping: Unlike most boost chips on the market, it doesn't just fool the sensor & voltage to increase boost. LAP3 Pro-Tuner precisely maps the boost pressure per RPM based on the engine load. The level of boost mapping per RPM is superior over any chips and ECU tunes on the market."

I wish I knew how to describe this better, but in computer terms it sounds like "overclocking". In short, its like feeding steroids where you'll see a gain for quite some time, but in the long term it damages the computer. Isn't the LAP3 sorta the same thing? It gives you that boost, but "at a cost" ?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Any modifications to your vehicle have a chance of reducing longevity of parts. When you add more horsepower than the system was designed and warrantied for you increase wear and tear. There is a common saying in the mod community: Youve got to pay to play. Low risk mods exist; but theres always a cost (small or large)

First question is do you care about your engine/drivetrain warranty? If not you have more options. If you do, a piggyback is going to be your best bet. Burger Motorsports sells a 450whp package for just over $1099usd that included everything you need (that's over 500hp flywheel which is what car manufactures quote). That kit will allow you to remove the trace of the tune for service if you wish to keep things discrete for your warranty.

Lightweight wheels and lightweight rotors should be your first step. They don't increase horsepower per say but they may be the most cost effective mod after a jb4. Our wheels are essentially boat anchors and you can greatly reduce rotational weight getting rid of them. Heres a good little dyno of a reduction of just ten pounds, I would think you could reduce even more from our cars:

Indeed. My TSW "Watkins" weigh 13 and 14 pounds less than the OE wheels.

There is always a cost. I roast my tires a little when pushing it a little at 25mph. An intake, exhaust and jb4 will get you the results you want.

Everything with performance is a sacrifice, and nothing is "free". If you're serious about adding ~40% more power over stock, then there will be trade-offs with reliability, there's just no way around it. Every part of the powertrain and driveline will be stressed more. That being said, the car was built around a 10 year/100k mile powertrain warranty, so I can only assume that Kia/Hyundai baked a sufficient margin for tolerances into the design. Obviously their intention is to not have to pay out on warranty claims, so their objective is to reach a happy medium or reliability and cost. Plenty of guys are rolling around with nice power bumps over stock with seemingly no issue, but it's also a relatively new platform with little empirical data. YMMV.

If you want power and you're willing to sacrifice some reliability, then a JB4 and some bolt-ons will absolutely get you to where you want to be. You just have to figure out what your risk tolerance is, and no one here can do that for you. I also concur that eliminating excessive unsprung weight (the heavy OEM wheels) is a good way to get some "free" excess punch without risk of damaging anything.

Came from a 139 hp corolla. Wants an extra 140 hp on top of the stingers current hp. Says he knows nothing about cars.

I get a feeling you will kill yourself with this car.

Sure feels like a bs post wasting our time.

I came from a 200hp Acura daily. Granted I do have a 300awd hp g37x but the jump from the Acura was pretty significant. If op doesn't have AWD then.... Another stinger on copart in the future.

Hey everyone! Thank you so much for the replies!

The JB4 seems like a great option and seems fairly easy to install.

However, when installing JB4, don't you need to install a few other things as well to make sure the car runs smoothly? Those extra things will void the warrant, will it not? Since the JB4 can be hooked on/off within minutes, the other parts stay in your car permanently.

You need another project stinger right? This one will come with everything including full UVO

Safest way? - buy a Corvette

Any modification can give Kia cause to deny a warranty claim. It's made very clear in the warranty guide. Even in the US, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act does not cover performance modifications done to a car.

If you're worried about getting warranty claims denied, don't mod the car. It's really about as simple as that. There is nothing "permanent" about a JB4 or piggybacks in general (e.g. you can take the spark plugs back out, you can use the plug-and-play fuel wires), but you can bet that if you come to the dealership with a blown transmission or engine, that they're absolutely going to do some snooping around to try and find any reason to deny the claim.

The answer to your inquiry is simple — you don’t.

A piggyback tune is going to be your best bang for the buck for HP straight out of the box.
I would recommend going with a JB4 (CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO).
This device can easily be taken out and won't void any warranties.

Additionally, if you want to get a little more sound out of your Stinger's engine I would suggest installing an Injen Cold Air Intake (CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO) as well.

Lastly, if you are at all concerned about the life of your engine it is a good idea to install an Oil Catch Can. I would recommend a twin can set up like our Add W1 V3 OCC (CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO). Let me know if you have any questions or need any assistance and I can help you out or get you hooked up with a little discount on your order as well.
